Just curious - why not do the swing away hitch as a passenger side open so that you leave the entire left side clear?

Main advantage I see for driver's side swing is that you have no risk of your tailgate hitting whatever you are swinging away but is that really a risk with how far the Pivot opens vs how far the tailgate opens?

I can swing my gate to about 75 degrees with the 1-UP in the lowered position (no bikes).

They also sell reversed side plates which would allow you to easily open the gate all the way. It lowers the mount several inches.

You have to call them to order, they're not listed on the site, I believe they are about a $60 upcharge.

Way too many big items that will go in the cargo tray for it to open the same direction as the back door, plus; that back door will swing out as far as the Pivot V2 on the same side and add the tire width with it and it’s just asking for something to go wrong.

I installed my Curt hitch and extension today then mounted my Thule bike rack. No go for opening the tailgate for me. I’m not sure if I need a drop extension or a different rack.
i need a rack that can carry two fat tire e-bikes, which is probably 130 pounds.

I’ll look into it but will it support the 130 pounds?
Yes. #130 is well within the specs. consider passenger side open. Drivers blocks the license plate and generally a bad idea to open into traffic.

Kuat Pivot with 1up USA rack like this is what I plan to buy. I think it will work with the Bronco

Here's my 5-bike Shuttlerack mounted on my 2-door. It's heavy - solid and works well (without as much wear as a North Shore rack). It can fold down so that I can open the tailgate. This won't work for everyone (as it certainly gets in the way, and blocks most of the rearview camera) but for me it's perfect. We can fit most of our bikes on it, shuttle a bunch of people and it's solid enough (with a bracing ratchet strap) to hold e-bikes and normal bikes.

I think the Bronco door and spare will be an issue with having a passenger side pivot as the door goes beyond 90% but it may also work by a fraction.🤷🏼‍♂️

I wasn’t willing to be the Guinea pig, plus I like both sides being open to channel my German Shepherds directly to me and spare anyone by me🤣😂.

The Kuat can open to 90 or 120 degrees based on what the specs state. It appears to me it’s opened 120 in the pic above.

A 1-UP with reversed side plates ($800) will cure that or a drop extension ($75).

The only issue I see with the drop extension is having enough depth on the receiver to fully support the bike rack, it seems really short in the picture. My 1-UP has a very long "tongue" that goes into the hitch so it needs a bit of depth.

I need to buy one and see. It would be nice to lower my rack 2" to make lifting the E-bikes onto it a bit easier.
