hoss 3.0 rack programing issues

why don't you have them follow instructions on the correct thread here...? My rack-hack has worked flawlessly for several years, for EVERY bronco.

I have to say...that thread is quite intimidating and would be more so if you went from trusting a dealership to get it taken care of to where the OP is at now, back pedaling to figure it all out. The forum contains all the info but its very spread out and tough to follow for anyone that is good with a wrench but maybe not so good with computers. Hopefully it gets easier some day.

Your absolutely correct, I'll edit the first page and leave directions there. To be honest I intentionally left it vague in the beginning to keep Ford's programming team from figuring out what was going on and copying it or shutting it down.

Did your friend try to install a known VIN from a WildTrak or Badlands with HOSS 3.0? Your stock BD rack programming won't work, but he could trick it with a VIN that does work.

Would I just creep onto a lot and write a VIN down from the windshield for this?

Your absolutely correct, I'll edit the first page and leave directions there. To be honest I intentionally left it vague in the beginning to keep Ford's programming team from figuring out what was going on and copying it or shutting it down.

I am sure your aware that according to Ford Performance there are different flash/programming versions depending on the model. Using the FP M-3200-WT kit with the ProCal is not even an option for those of us with non-SAS 4-Doors and probably won't be for another year (Last response was late Q3 before they even start on it so that means sometime in 26 at the earliest.)

Every post I have seen using your hack has used a Wildtrak VIN which would be the incorrect programming for non-SAS 4-Doors. I know people have done it and it worked BUT nobody knows exactly how that is working except that they have no codes. According to FP the incorrect flash "will cause issues with ESC / ABS / Lane keep calibrations as they are for a different C-Factor/Steering ratio than what this rack is."


Do you know of anyone who has done your hack using a VIN for a 24 non-SAS Badlands 4-Door which is now coming from the factory with the 3.0 rack?

The assumption is that a 24 non-SAS Badlands 4DR with the 3.0 would have the proper flash programming for the excluded non-SAS 4-doors.

No I don't. However you're right, if you could find a newer model with the correct Vin that has more of the features and doors to match your model then obviously that's a better choice than using the WT VIN. Alternatively not a single person has had an issue with any of the features that you mentioned above that I'm aware of. If it's that big of a deal to you you could just simply search the internet and find a used or new vehicle with the correct features and use that VIN and let us know how it works for you and then you could update my ORIGINAL thread with your progress and feedback. My original thread on this subject is over two and a half years old so I don't really follow it much as my steering works great and I paved the way for others to do the same. My suggestion is instead of getting your underwear in a bunch over something that's never been an issue for any of the people that have tried it, spend your time elsewhere and just get the Forscan, the VIN number FDRS and get her done get back on the road forget about it. What I do know about Ford, is that their modules were designed by Bosch to all work together and have as few of bugs as possible while being ULTRA modular in that they can be used from one vehicle to the next with absolutely as few issues as possible. This makes production obviously so much easier for the manufacturer, to me it's common sense but to other people I guess it's just not.

If a dealer did the install I would think it would be on them…but yeah I have only heard of two dealers that have actually done a successful install…procal is totally flaky and dealers don’t use forscan which is required along with FDRS…if ya are in N cal ya might try hitting up “snacktime”…good luck

my dealer installed mine last year with no issues and gave me the old 2.0 rack for spare when they were done. dropped it off in the morning and picked it up about an hour before closing. I don't have the FP tune, so I am sure that. made it easier based on previous comments where there have been issues if the tune was already installed.

And that dealer has followed MY instructions. I have had several Ford service managers reach out to me and request the correct formula to make it work for their customers. So there are a few good ones out there.

and your innovation into all of this has been greatly appreciated by the community. I know it was done with the procal unit as it needed to be ordered and it sits in my glovebox.

You're not the only one, 74W and BroncBuster have probably sold hundreds if not thousands presumably using the one VIN they've got... Ford, as far as I'm aware, is SELLING 74W racks in bulk.

You're running Method 701's (0 Offset). BFG 37" KO2's, Bilstein Coil-overs, and a 1.5 Level.

You're already way closer to a Wildtrak in geometry than a non-sas Badlands, and unless you've done something to recalibrate the ABS, TCS, and Lane Centering for that, You'd likely be closer to spec with the Wildtrak settings.

I realized I was similarly way off before putting a 3.0 rack in mine (Before the FP rack even existed), and knew that my modifications had already made the "factory" settings largely irrelevant, and figured the benefits of the rack outweighed any negatives.

So, you did your homework, read the instructions, AND sought out help? WTF?!

I didnt need the help, just didnt want to risk voiding the warranty and since its my wife's daily I didnt want to risk having to mansplain why we needed a new steering rack and performance tune.

To her the car just went in for an oil change.
