Video that end too soon! I want to see the damage on the wall, bonus points if it lodged itself into the wall.
And to think people use those cheap part store rentals to do it. I've got a healthy respect for truck coilovers and the pent up energy in the springs.

Are you talking about these? They work fine if you know what you're doing. I've used them more times than I have fingers & toes to count without an issue. You need to go slow & evenly, keeping them at max distance from each other. They can slide & cause a problem if you don't.
They are a lot better approach than the guy's in the video

Better than the guys in the video for sure, but large coilovers are not what those are made for. Those are made for car struts. Just because you can... I value my head.
I use a wall mounted Branick for truck coilovers.

Agreed, there are better ways if you have the resources & not all tools are of the same quality though they share the same basic design

Right,but if you have respect for it and do it the correct way its 100% safe using rental tool.
Well, except for most of those rental tools are not made for large coilovers, so I'd not go with 100% safe, regardless of how you do it. Anyway, I'm a chicken when it comes to that much energy and use a tool made for the job. Just be safe, whatever you do.

I should of recorded me cutting my wrapped and bent spring compressors off my eibach coils with a torch it was just as eventful.
