your steering rack would still be covered under warranty after upgrading to stronger ICON tie rods?
Depends on the dealer. Or more accurately the service writer and manager.

He said his dealer already told him that his stronger tie rods wouldn't affect his warranty. Seems odd that any dealer would make that statement but good news if true.

Yep...the Ser Mgr is who I spoke with. They have other folks do the same thing.

I did mine then drove 30 miles to my dealership to get it aligned. You don't have to loosen the stock tie rods jamb nuts to get them off, just put them next to each other and try to get them as close to the same length as possible before you put the new ones on. Wasn't that bad.
Sounds good, thanks for that info!

Personally I like the FabTech Heim Joint tie rods. I have been running mine for 1.5 years on numerous excursions with no issue. Not only is the tie rod MUCH stronger than stock, it changes how the tie rod connects to the knuckle. I think they are better than Icon but they are also twice the price. I got them first thing before Icon had theirs out.
The FabTech tie rod is not “better than Icon” with a lifted truck if the heim joint bottoms out at full droop, which it does with Fox coilovers (3.5in), and probably any lift requiring aftermarket UCAs. The heim joint does not articulate as far as the stock or Icon tie rod. I do prefer a heim joint, but not if it bottoms out and eventually grenades.

...and whether or not you quickly swapped the stock tie rods back in before taking it to the dealer

Good to know about the limits of the heim. Thank you. I knew the tie rod was one of the weak points on the Bronco and no one else had made anything better back in 2021. I didn't want to do the braces. I was already thinking about going Icon when I get the 74weld steering box. Icon is the the tie rod they recommend.

They are plug and play with the factory rack. But be aware that they are stamped incorrectly from Icon (at least the set that I had). So that the tie rod marked with an L is actually passenger and the tie rod with an R is driver. You’ll need an alignment after installing.
Mine were correct (L is passenger and R is driver side). See attached pic of instructions showing orientation/location each goes. Just did mine. Worked fine and needed an alignment afterward (to answer someone else’s questions about that).

The instructions were updated due to the mismarked tie rods. Most people consider the right side to be passenger and left side to be driver, unless you’re driving on the Queen’s roads.

Yep. I’m just mechanically inclined to begin with and figured out the orientation without the instructions. Wrenching on hot rods and such teaches ya to use the force sometimes (that inner knowledge, wrist torque wrench for quite a bit of things, etc, etc) :p(y)

Are there any updated Hoss 3.0 Tie Rod Ends? Is it worth it with the larger tie rod that comes with the 3.0 package?

I'm glad 74weld was mentioned for steering rack upgrades to go along with the Icon tie rods. This is the direction I went. Waiting for a day off to install.
