Forgot to talk about the strut. Be careful because the factory strut allows the tailgate to open too far and the can/mount will break the tail light. You can order a 28" strut off of Amazon. I got the one with 30 lbs of opening force, works perfectly.

Have a link? I'm sure your option is much cheaper. It is a valid point to raise awareness on the potential damage. RTR makes a tailgate limiter that is adjustable.

I built similar, but for Rotopax, and custom rortopax locking mount as well since I didn’t want to buy one from them for $60. I didn’t take many pics during fab and will have to take more pics of fuel can not mounted but here’s a few
