It will lock with them in it no special spot, But it will start if a person get in it no matter what

ok thanks- that's all I was getting at by the way - so I need to find a spot where it won't start. Maybe like an aluminum/steel box to store them in. (higher crime area here)

Man its a cheap add-on if your like me and use it everyday. If you didn't up front it looks to be a cheap add-on afterwards also.
Oh, ya I'm well aware. The Bronco keypad is a wireless stick on. I find it a very ugly wart, there is no way I am going to put it on the door. I will probably buy one and stick it in the fuel door for emergencies.

But with the key inside, if you leave it in the same hidden spot - will the engine start ?
How do the doors lock even with the key inside - there must be a spot or something that shields the key so the sensor does not know it is in there.
You can lock the keys in the vehicle if you use the keypad to lock the doors.

If you use the keypad to lock the door, you can not start the vehicle, even with the keys, until you UNLOCK the vehicle with the keypad (or a fob, I believe).

If you lock the keys in the vehicle with the keypad, but the vehicle is still running, then yes, someone could conceivably just get in and drive away.

::EDIT::

See below:

I would edit the post this didn't work it cranked right up.
::SECOND EDIT::

Bradley still had the other fob in their pocket... keep reading the thread to see how things progressed.

Maybe the lock box they make for the center console.

Keep in mind Fordpass also lets you lock and unlock on your phone also start it.

oh - that's good info - then I can use it and will get one -
@Bradley Thornton - thanks - no offense meant - good to know these tips. Ordering one now, hopefully, won't get screwed by the dealer programming it.

Is a great tip. And the FoMoCo keypad (that you can buy after your vehicle purchase and stick anywhere you like) also has these features.

I did not get the factory keypad on my Bronco order as its looks a little dated, but I'll order the battery operated keypad once I get my truck. Its less than $100.... and I can stick it anywhere.

I too never take my keys out of my current Fords (at least 20 years of this). I stick my keypad slightly under the cowl beneath the wiper blade cover, but easily accessible and use it everytime I get in my truck. Some people put them on the inside of their gas access cover.

The little batteries last at least 5 years and they blink to warn you they are getting weak. Also have a $2 driver door key (not ignition enabled) zip tied under the bumper... Just in case my keypad fails... (Which is never has)

BTW, I'm old and have excellent insurance. I could give a crap is someone steals my truck. I'm a decent shot with a sidearm....

The "factory" keypad, and the one you order from your dealer after delivery, are the exact same product.

Well you can get the keypad for like 100.00 at parts desk.

Open Fuel door, and apply the key pad there. It uses 3M adhesive tape. Problem solved. Plus if you ever look your keys in the car...😎

Perfect!

Report back what you find!

(Locking the vehicle with the keypad will engage the immobilizer until unlocked... double check that you can't just unlock the vehicle from the fob left inside... if so, you'd just have to hide your fob really well, if not, you could conceivably leave it out in the open.)

I love the keypad feature as well, I use it daily.

I do leave my keys in the center console and never take them out of vehicle. I guess I if I was parking in a real rough area of town I might consider taking them with me. At home I live in the country and crime is very low. It is generally assumed and I guess correctly that most people have guns and know how to use them.

If the keypad would fail, I have the Ford pass app as a backup unlock and get me into vehicle.

I'm not promising that will work just an idea. But let us know if it does. (The lock box)

I was interested in getting the keypad after delivery, but with Fordpass App lock, unlock, and remote start it seems a bit redundant. Unless you don't want to carry anything at all I suppose like going to the beach.
Does the dealer have to program the keypad if you purchase after the fact?
