Latest Update Screws Up CarPlay

Did this screen always have a classic Bronco on it? Mine also now has the border but it doesn’t bother me.

My wife’s ‘22 does. I can’t even find this screen on my ‘21

Im hesitant to update since I’ve changed stuff with forscan and added the color change ambient lighting. I don’t want To lose functionality.

If they make that optional for CarPlay and Android Auto that might make some people happy, but personally I don't want full screen Android Auto or Apple CarPlay on the 12" screen because I love having easy access to the rest of sync 4 including vehicle status, climate and audio controls on the screen without having to dig through the phone software to exit Android Auto or Apple CarPlay like you do in my 8" SYNC 3 equipped vehicles and the same for the 8" SYNC 4 system where it takes over the entire screen.

So if they do allow it, don't force it on every one.

Yes. I drive around to new places quite often and use google maps for navigation but listen to the radio. Having the tab on the right for radio while the google maps is on the main portion is extremely valuable to me. Having full screen maps would absolutely be a negative for me.

The maps portion is also pretty darn big as is without taking up the full screen anyways.

I don't see why they can't figure out a way to make both folks happy, fullscreen CarPlay vs not. It's probably really clumsy to toggle back and forth would be my guess. It's great to see three updates pushed in the matter of two weeks though.

First of all Ford, can we please get full screen CarPlay? Second, can you at least not make it worse? After getting the latest Power-Up 2.3.1 I noticed that CarPlay is now surrounded by an ugly black box. Also, one time after starting up the Bronco logo load screen was peering through the CarPlay window while all of the other windows were on top blocking the rest of the load screen. Have to assume it was the update as I’ve never seen this before.

It would be simple to allow the right side panel to collapse like it does on the Ford Nav screen. Would allow more screen real estate for the CarPlay section.

Go to the settings app in CarPlay and choose your wallpaper…

I think we’ll have to wait until the next update and hope they catch it. Probably just a sloppy UI bug in the latest update. Surely a graphic designer didn’t sign off on that.

That black box has been there from the beginning. just change your background in Carplay to black

Nope.
It's pushed from the latest update.
My carplay also goes black sometimes.
Definitely a glitch in the update.

I tried it the other day, no worky. I don't have every single "connected" feature enabled though, perhaps there is a new one for this feature to work.

After a day I don't even notice the squared off CarPlay borders. I'm sure it'll be fixed down the road. It would be nice if they had a method for us to report bugs. Its still good to see them pushing software faster.
