Got to wondering about storage of valuables when the roof/doors are removed. From the pics I've seen, the glove box is lockable, as is the center console box between the front seats (not sure how large that space is).

Seems like I saw a video that showed some storage underneath the cargo area, but I cannot find it now. If there is a storage compartment in the cargo area, how large is it and is it lockable?

Thinking about taking this to the beach and how much stuff we'd be able to leave secured in the vehicle if the roof and doors are off. (And why would I want to leave them on at the beach?)

What do you think the odd are that there will be some sort of accessory that provides more secure storage in the cargo area for this kind of situation?

I recall the video you're talking about. I think that storage area is mostly for the jack and associated accoutrements, and I don't recall anything about it being secure.

Their was storage under the rear seat but yea not sure it was actually lockable. Just showed a video of a woman raising the passenger rear seat bottom, and putting stuff in it and lowering.

On the wranglers this “trunk” storage area is locked by locking the tailgate. That holds the flooring covering this storage area closed. Very useful. It will hold a small backpack and a purse.

Yeah, glove box and center console might be lockable but not crowbar proof

I saw a lengthy video explaining the black diamond where it talked about alarms and it said there was one available that would go off if someone just stuck their hand through the open space with top off? Does that sound feasible?

Could you link the video when you get a sec?

There was mention of a option for a lockbox in the center console.

I dont know if there is a factory option for it but many years ago I had an alarm with an interior motion sensor (it was for a convertible) that would go off if someone reached inside.

Not too concerned with being crowbar proof. Ultimately, any level of security is just a deterrent, anyway. And if someone is going through a parking lot with a crowbar, they're probably not too shy about breaking a window or cutting a soft top. I guess for me it's largely about giving my wife and kids piece of mind that they can lock stuff up when we're out.

Hadn't heard anything about the alarm system, though. That's interesting. I wonder how prone it would be to false alarms. Imagine leaves in the fall setting it off every couple minutes...

Ford probably already has something in their 200 available accessories that will provide this, but rest assured the aftermarket companies will offer a lockable trunk for the cargo area if Ford doesn’t.
There are several similar options for jeeps

Here's the video at the correct timestamp. Does not look to be secured
