What part is needed to simply mount a Hero9 to the dash location. Can’t see what works on GoPro site.

It's a real pain. I just went through it myself. You need a 1/4 20 male to go into the mount then a three wing mount for the gopro itself. Most of the gopro mounts have a female 1/4 20 so you will need a coupler.

If you don't want to use a coupler, I did find this one that I am using and it works great.

I mated this Tripod Mount Adapter to a 4" long 1/4-20 threaded rod from McMaster-Carr. I also have 5 Coupling Nuts threaded on the rod for stability and to act as jam nuts. Works quite well.
