After coming upon two situations where I could have helped pull someone out, I want to get a tow strap.
Looking for suggestions on type, length, Kinetic?. Best place to order from?
Thank you in advance

I keep both a recovery tow strap and Kinetic strap in the vehicle. I have the Rhino brand. The few times I have had to use it, they have done the job just fine. Decent price, American made and they came with a storage bag.

A flat 3in by 20ft tow strap is great for moving "unstuck" vehicles. But it is not the best option for pulling a "stuck" vehicle out of mud/snow. Freeing a "stuck" vehicle generally requires a kinetic rope or winch. Dynamic recoveries using kinetic ropes are extremely dangerous though. A synthetic rope winch is the safest option (if feasible).

I use a Bubba rope black op tow strap 3in x 20ft, made in USA.

Get a Yankum rope and some soft shackles. American made and can be bought at Amazon.

I'm not commenting on Rhino's quality but they aren't American made. From their website: "All of our products are designed, engineered and lab tested here in the USA, however, due to the extremely high cost of manufacturing locally, we source raw materials and manufacture overseas in order to keep the cost of our products competitive in our global marketplace."

There are countless threads and YouTubes on this subject. Worth a watch. @jbacon47 has it correct. I keep a 3"X20' static (~8%) flat strap and both hard and soft shackles in my rig. Personal choice. Pretty happy with the Rhino USA brand (Note: they are actually made in China).

Watch some recovery how to videos and take note and use caution.
Most recoveries end with no problem but a few end with people hurt and occasionally someone dead.
A member here shares his story on a YouTube video, he was fortunate and survived but not without injury.

Learn how to use whatever you buy and know safe use, don’t be afraid to pass if it’s more than your equipped to handle. Someone else will be along with the correct equipment.

I carry a bit of everything , snatch strap, kinetic rope, soft and hard shackle, winch w/accessories. Everything fits in a medium size bag. You never know what type of recovery you might encounter, the more options you have the safer you can make it.

I have never personally used a kinetic strap, but they're better for getting a stuck vehicle when you don't have great traction yourself (soft ground, etc). If you have good, solid traction, you can use a standard tow strap to pull out a stuck vehicle without the 'slam.'

I have pulled a motorhome out of a ditch when it was sitting on its frame. I have pulled out fork trucks that were sunk to their frames in mud. I pulled a tractor out of a mudhole. In all these situations (none with the Bronco), I had great traction and was able to use a standard tow strap. Ease into it until it's taught, then give it a pull.

I tried to break my Rhino strap a couple weeks ago, it held I was using soft shackles. If I had a kinetic strap it would be for sure one of the expensive ones.

a good tow strap has a tag on it with the various limits it can safely handle, look for that as well. You do get what you pay for.
I have some from Treaty Oak Offroad I got a few years back, done great when I needed them.

I'm wondering if you couldn't use a kinetic strap to pull someone out even if you didn't do a 5mph running start. In other words a gradual pull? Sure it would stretch, but not as much as it would normally. Saves having to carry two straps unless you want to plan on towing someone.

Yes, a kinetic (rope) strap can be used as a standard tow strap. Typically you want it shorter. You could take a 30 and double it up. Most of the trail straps are now short like 10 feet.
