No cluster removal needed.
The lights each plug and play to the harness, and the harness is a single tap into an OEM wire, or you can use one of the aux switches for switched power instead.
To be honest its a little tricky if you haven't done it before, but not awful. The hardest put is running the harness wire up the driver's side a-pillar. We'll provide clear instructions, though.
That don't work for the soft tops....like that look, tho'. Nice.installed a rock light on the rear windshield wiper cover, ran wire to the existing Light in the cargo area added a switch under the existing crappy OEM light. It’s not a perfect aim into the rear cargo area, but it was easy and cheap. It’s offset for clearance inside the cover...
In the video, he states he’s not gonna tell us where he connected the power to. Do we know why?

Pushing to an Aux switch might make better sense if it's easier. Some of us prefer easier.
We offer both options, but the connection to the vehicle harness is not hard. Routing the harness behind the trim panels up top is the more difficult part.
They all come on when you open the door. They can also be wired to an an upfitter switch or similar if you prefer to be able to turn them on at other times.
Exactly why we built the harness to offer both options.

If connected tapping into the factory wiring so they come on when the doors open, then won't the cabin light switch also turn them on making the Aux not necessary?

Unfortunately it doesn't. The switch operates on a CAN signal to trigger the lights which doesn't work with these at the moment.
