Hey guys, new member here and I know this has been beaten to death. But, my wife and I are about to go on a trip from the Gulf Coast of Texas to Utah and back. We're going to be hitting several national parks and other sites. She has close to 40,000 miles on her Bronco now. I don't normally ride in her Bronco, but I drove it a couple of days ago, and the road noise was quite a lot compared to what I remember. She still has the original Goodyear Territory MT's (315/70R17) on it.

I have read many threads on this, and my brain is overloaded on the subject. So, I am looking for some recommendations for a set of tires that are quieter than what she has on there now. Although she still wants the rugged look. We won't be doing any serious off roading. Mainly used for around town and some improved trails.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

40k on the original Territory MTs may be a record! Lots of options out there...Falken and BFG seem to be the most popular for all around use.

Sounds like you could be in the market for some cooper at3 if your looking for less noise.

I second BFG.
BFG's seem to be hit or miss, particularly on balancing issues. I've had great experience with Yokohama Geolandr's and Toyo Open Country A/Ts. Pay attention to the Load Range rating, the stock tires are "C" load range, many replacements are "E" range, a much heavier tire that will be more rugged and last longer but ride more harshly and negatively impact fuel economy.

I actually have a set of Cooper AT3's sitting in my cart at Discount Tire right now. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I dumped my Goodyears at 900 miles and went with MT Baja AT's. Highly recommend if you spend a lot of time in the pointy rocks like I do. Highway, well not so much as they are a little loud.

I’ll recommend a C load range all terrain (all season would be better for your use but may not have the look ya want) 35” tire…I am a fan of Yokohama but tires are so good these days any name brand would be fine…good luck

Good catch on the load rating. These Broncos do not need load E for sure! I am at 19k miles and tires are about perfect. Rotated about every 5k. Noise still sucks. I like the look of original tires but was going BFG like my other vehicles. Will look at Coopers and Yokahama.

Toyo Open Country ATs just put a set on my F150 Raptor and now I wonder why I have not bought them before. Quiet smooth and tons of tread depth. All my Raptor sets of BFGs have become hard to balance and loud. Good luck.

Firestone Destination XT or MT. Light weight, minimal balancing and 90 day exchange option if not happy, to an other Firestone product e.g XT to MT
