Hi, new member here. I ordered a Bronco in August, made the mandatory deposit. The sales person advised me that when the vehicle arrives, should I decide I don't want it, they will return my deposit and put the Bronco in their inventory!
This surprises me, is this typical??
First time for me to buy a vehicle that had to be ordered and built, so I'm not at all knowledgeable about it

I had to put down $500 for the order, but it goes towards the down payment as well. Once you see your Bronco when it's delivered you'll probably prefer the Bronco over the $500 and whatever down payment you bring. 5600 miles on my '24 and I almost regret not buying it earlier.

Same $500 deposit here. I just assumed once I signed the Offer to Purchase that I'm committed to taking it, or at least losing the deposit. Surprised that they would return the deposit if I back out.

Truthfully, if your Bronco is anywhere close to my '24 BB, manual transmission (5600 miles now), you'll love it. Getting that discount sweetens the deal, but the only issue I've had is the radio being a little weird in the way to work on extremely humid mornings, otherwise it's more fun to drive than the '05 GT Mustang I bought new and is solid as the day is long in summer. I'd buy a couple of back up Broncos if I ever played and won the lottery just to reduce the miles on this one.

That's what my salesman told me. I think it's pretty much SOP.

I'm pretty sure I put $1000 down when I ordered. After a year of waiting (with almost zero communication from my sales guy), I found the build I wanted sitting on another dealer's lot so I bought it. Getting my deposit back was super easy -- just told them I bought another one and they cut me a check. Eight months later I got an e-mail saying my original order was built :ROFLMAO:
I hope it went to a good home.

the deposit on orders is up to the dealer--and it is all in how they write it up to whether or not it is refundable if you cancel your order. If your order is something they can sell easily then most likely they will refund the deposit--if it is a custom order where it is difficult to sell more than likely it will be non-refundable. Around here often there is no deposit required for marketable vehicles when you order--and when I ordered my Everglades I never did any paperwork until it arrived-- moral of the story is it is dependent on the particular dealer.

It was the same for me too when I ordered last Christmas (delivered in late May). $500 refundable deposit if I walked away. Paid MSRP. I love the car!

I ordered mine in March 2023 using my son's D plan. I put $100 down, and was told the same as you, if I didn't take delivery I'd get my $100 back and they would put it into thier inventory. When it arrived un September 23 I did buy it, but at that time the dealership would have made more money had I not taken it. So there was really no risk to them.

My dealer would do the same. They feel they have buyers. If you got it at msrp then maybe they’ll try for a few bucks more if you don’t want it.

Deposit refund may be state based. For example in California the dealer is obligated to refund a deposit at any time. Also, unless the vehicle is driven off the lot after the contract signing, the deal can be unwound (canceled)
