Newer "Carbonized" Hardtop

It appears that Ford has changed the black hardtop (non painted) to something called Carbonized. Has anyone seen the new hardtop in person and does it match the fender flares or is it a lighter grey? Any side by side pics of the two?

I thought they always called it MIC - carbonized grey, but maybe I'm wrong. I remember wanting to my Bronco in carbonized grey paint because of that so it would match

The MIC is a carbonized gray color and yes it matches the flares

I remember watching a YouTube video and the guy was going through all the changes line by line and he mentioned that it has changed, maybe it was just the vocabulary? To confirm the color has never changed correct?

Has not changed but apparently you can get a black painted top

No change in color for the standard MIC top since the start. Only changes have been the newer years painted versions (heritage, Stroppe and body color matched)

Just Got a 2024 OBX with the painted black roof. Dealer said 1st one they received. It seems to be a different roof than MIC. Also seems a bit quieter. Here is a picture.

Is it just a different layer on the outside, or totally different construction all the way through? In other words is it still just epoxied cardboard with a plastic layer on the outside?

Not sure, but the inside looks different than the other. I believe it has more insulation. I will take a picture.
After I ordered it I search for any detail on it and could not find anything.As you can see the inside is very different

I don't see any honeycomb. So either its painted over with white paint, or it's different. Looks more like the inside of a jeep.

Agree, I had a 2020 Jeep Wrangler and it does remind me of it. I had an opportunity to rent a Black Diamond for 5 days a couple of months ago on a business trip. This roof seems to be quieter. Far less wind noise. Not to mention much better than the jeep.
