OEM tire question (replacement)

I just had 3 tires replaced at the Goodyear shop. Only needed 3 because I recently had two replaced for free at my dealership under my original tire plan. My question is, did they make a newer version of the 35" Goodyear Wrangler Territory MTs? All the part numbers line up but these 3 new ones say Wrangler on the side and have a different tread pattern. They also have something called "Durawall" technology.

Anything to worry about running slightly different tread patterns? Thanks for your help.

All four tires should match. You could get away with two different tread patterns on a part time 4x4 if you keep the similar treads on the same axle. An AWD should have four matching tires.

I think if you go onto Tire Rack there are two version of the tire. One is labeled "Goodyear" twice on the sidewall (the Bronco tire) and the other is the typical Goodyear Wrangler sidewall. I did not notice the tread was different on those two tires though...maybe. Are your new tires possibly the Wrangler "RT" and not the "MT"? For '25 or maybe just in '26, I believe Ford switched to the RT tire.

Well I'll be a monkeys uncle. It would appear they changed the tread on the MT. One might think they'd notate that....like call it an MT2 or Super MT. They are using the RT on the SAS now, right? This is the Goodyear X2 MT sidewall....

Versus the Goodyear X1 Wrangler sidewall....which appears to be what you got....

“Goodyear Territory MT” is just branding, not a specific design. The new ones may as well be completely different tires from another manufacturer. You absolutely do not want to run that mixed batch on a Bronco.

The ones without “Wrangler” on the sidewall are the Bronco OEM tires. Not too surprisingly, Ford does not want their main competitor’s model name on their tires! What a field day Jeep guys would have with that one.

I thought the only difference was sidewall marking, but looking at them both closely on TireRack.com, I can see the tread patterns are also slightly different.

I wouldn’t expect that to matter too much, but I’m no 4x4 tire expert. The main thing I’d worry about is different rolling circumference, causing wheels to turn at different speeds even in a straight line. That’ll add wear to your driveline components.

Assuming the rubber compounds and wear rates are the same, they should maintain the same circumference as they wear, making the slight tread difference only cosmetic. You could call Goodyear to ask them.

Tire Rack also shows the OEM Bronco tire (Goodyear X2 side wall) as being 5 pounds lighter than the Wrangler sidewall, 52 vs 57 pounds. Funny, I thought the only difference was the sidewall branding.

Sometimes tire manufacturers have an "O.E." version of a tire that is designed to meet auto manufacturer requests and they primarily sell that tire to the O.E. to meet weight, MPG, noise, or cost reduction requests; but the tire company will also have their version of that same tire which is the mainline/true version and you may see differences in the tread pattern such as this. You got the real Territory tires straight from the Goodyear shop, if you went to the dealer you would've gotten the O.E. ones.

I learned this when I was reading up on the new KO3's, I noticed some different tread patterns on the same sized KO3's and when I dug deeper I learned there's often O.E. versions of the same tires.

I thought "Wrangler" was just for Jeeps. Is there a risk of running these on a Bronco?
