Hi,
I am looking to replace tires on my Black Diamond with Sasquatch package.
Are there any additional steps for these wheels? Do beauty rings need to be taken off?
I am trying to avoid any pricey mistakes going to tire shop.
Can you drive without those rings installed?
Thank you!

Just took my rings off in preparation for new tires & getting the rings powder coated. I would not leave them on for tire shop monkeys to scratch up. Not sure it would make much difference for balancing... never really thought about that. Needed for balancing or not?

There have been a lot of posts on this forum regarding issues in taking off the beauty rings. Is the problem improper Torx bits, lack of expertise or know-how? I’m not sure, since I have never tried myself.

My beauty rings and wheels for that matter, are taking a beating going off road in moderate rocky conditions. Brush marks on the wheels and rock gashes on the beauty rings. No issues though, that’s what I bought the vehicle for….

I took mine off by hand using the correct torx and a ratchet. After reading some of the problems, I didn't want to go at it using an impact driver. I would be afraid the tire shop would not be careful in the removal and just drive them home overtorquing upon replacement.

Still wonder about tire balancing without the rings installed???

Balancing w/o the rings should be fine. Wheels and rings are a solid mass with consistent weight throughout...tires are not.

I haven't changed tires, but I did have a flat repaired. My local tire shop insisted on taking the ring off. They said they didn't want to scratch it. I think it would have been fine to leave it on.

Yes, it's fine to drive without the rings. They are for appearance only.
