I feel like this is a stupid question but I have to know for sure. Is there car insurance for off roading? My Bronco is my daily driver but I also rip the $#!+ out of it out at the desert like I stole it. I’m assuming if this insurance existed there would be a big premium, does this exist? Thanks! 🙏

Maybe be careful to not "rip the $#!+" in the desert, because why?

It's your daily, so treat it like it is. If you wanna go Ultra4, a Bronco for the street ain't it. Build yourself a caged buggy.

Be careful with the Instagram crowd's influence on behavior. :)

Yeah it’s always a concern that’s why I created this thread, but that’s also why I bought it. I don’t baby my possessions, I use it for what it’s made for. Ive also been contemplating getting a truck, trailer and UTV. Thanks for the sharing the better judgment but this thread is to find out if I can have my fun while being covered. ✌

I hear ya! :)

Well, if you’ve got the coin to thrash a brand new rig, then why the insurance?

While many of us enjoy off-roading in our new Broncos, most of us aren’t rich or YouTubers, so we have to balance our levels of fun with risk tolerance.

I know my insurance with Liberty Mutual will cover me in many instances, but there are those where any insurance company can call your actions to be negligent and deny coverage. Examples are willfully traversing of deep water or off-road areas which are restricted or have posted high danger signage. A lawyer would then be needed to fight things out, but then there’s that cost as well.

So, while I don’t baby my Bronco compared to most standard vehicles, I also don’t try to convince anyone that I”m taking it to next years KOH to run Turkey Claw and drop down BackDoor either.

Gonna wish you luck and that we never see your Bronco in a GIF post on Instagram in the carnage chronicles. ;)

Insurance is just an offset for future liabilities. There's a decent probability any off road insurance is going to be somewhat anemic. However, I know it's out there (I think Progressive has some). I assume it's not cheap, especially for a new Bronco.

If you can, put aside some cash in an account that's hard for you to access, say $5-10k, then add some cash each month until it gets up to where you want it. Then if you need it, you've got money to fix what you thrash. $20k is probably a good target, if you're desert running.

I called my insurance asking specifically about offroading, and they said they didn't have a specific off-road package, and that it (an accident) would simply be labeled as an at-fault accident. Like backing into a lamp post while in a parking lot, except replace parking lot with forest and lamp post with "big ass boulder".

Post is meant to be informative and is not and endorsement or recommendation.
I looked into this, and the coverage is very much superficial. If you're going to damage anything offroading, the paint is likely to be damaged and the dent larger than what can be repaired using the paintless dent repair system.

From the Brochure:

What is not covered by DentCARE?**
 Dents or dings that are larger than four (4) inches in diameter
 Dents or dings that cannot be repaired by the Paintless Dent Repair process
 Damage caused by vandalism
 Repairs that will affect or damage the vehicle’s paint or finish

What is not covered by WindshieldCARE?**
 Replacement of the front windshield
 Damage to areas other than the front windshield
 Stress cracks or cracks over six (6) inches
 Damage caused by hail, vandalism or neglect
 Not available in Florida

This is my favorite part -

We won't replace your Front Windshield, and we don't cover any other window ... so....

Does this mean if you hit that boulder and completely crush your front end you just pay your deductible?

Yeah I read into it, what a complete joke. Do people actually fall for this BS?

That's correct. Insurance premiums might go up (depending on provider, everyone's individual policies small-print details), but it would be covered just like any at-fault accident.
