So I signed up for off-roadeo in Moab in mid-October. Just called to make reservations at the host hotel/resort that is rather stongly suggested in the off-roadeo info - and there is no availability. Seriously?

Happened to me for TX. We just found a close airbnb that ended up being SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS CHEAPER. Worked out in our benefit really.

you might be going during fall break? We like going to the Hyatt in Moab. If you have a Hyatt card it’s 8000 points a night. About 25 min from off rodeo

Yeah just look for a hotel in Moab. I'm going next month and staying for a few days with the Family, no way in hell I was paying Red Cliff prices.

Found a Hotel in Moab...good to go. Especially now that the Rodeo is only 1 day, just drive there from Moab in the Morning.

I booked with Holiday Inn in MOAB. Used up some of my IHG points for a free room for a couple nights.

I’m going in early October and many hotels were booked - including the host hotel, but found a great place to stay in Moab. There are a ton of options. I wasn’t all that impressed with the Red Cliffs Lodge for the money they wanted anyway.

I'm going October 20th and I was able to get a room but they only had pet friendly rooms left. I booked it the very first day Moab Off-Roadeo opened.

I'm sorry to hear that! You'll probably save some money though.

I guess I got super lucky - I booked a room back in June, before they had even announced the dates.
Back in June, I spoke with an Off Roadeo person on the phone, and they said it'd be opening before end of summer, so I took a stab at booking a room for late August... next week baby!

Hopefully everyone that wants to go gets a chance, and doesn't have to pay insanely high prices.

I'm driving the RV to Moab and staying in town. Anyone know if there's a shuttle service to the event from town?

I went opening day and stayed in a AirBnB in Moab for 6 nights. It was $130 a night. It took 35 min to drive to the rodeo. I thought I was missing out not paying avg. $290 a night at the host place, but really didn't. All I did was sleep and shower there, so glad I didn't pay 2+x what I needed to.

I haven't heard anything about a shuttle service, and I don't think Moab has Uber.
I'd give them a call and check though -

October is a shoulder month for Moab. The temperatures are just starting to cool down enough that hiking becomes tolerable. Everyone wants to be there March-May and October-December

But really, lodging in Moab is just overstretched. They've added hotel after hotel in the last 5 years and they book up as fast as they can build them. It's kind of out of control.

I stayed in town at the Hampton inn. I noticed a couple of newer cool looking hotels as well. The 20 minute drive along the Colorado river to get to base camp was beautiful.

I booked the first hour it was open and the official hotel was already full.

Meanwhile, the Fairfield Inn was $410/night in Moab.

I was thankful for a deal on a KOA deluxe cabin with a porch.
