Good evening. I have a question for anyone familiar with OnX Offroad app. I have made a couple test routes using my desktop computer. When opening the routes on my iPhone via the app and choosing "Navigate" the route changes to "Fastest Route" and doesn't follow the manual path I created. Any ideas why this is happening? A setting maybe or am I just creating the route wrong lol? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.

I've not run into this, of course I am usually looking for the fastest route on pavement to the next trail. Are you trying to avoid main roads between trails or something?

Also, can you walk me through the steps on how you are creating the route?

I am creating the routes using the "snap to" setting. I manually created a route just to check the functionality of the app and it's not following the route I created. It wants to take shortcuts "fastest route" lol.

Are you setting a waypoint at each change of road?

I watched every video I could find lol. I'm not setting a way point at each change of road. One thing I did notice, If I create the route on the app and not the desktop website it doesn't do it every time.

Is it the snap to changing the desired route as you are building? I have to click before it changes the route to keep it from doing this on the trails we take.

Navigation doesn’t follow custom routes. It follows its own route based upon whatever algorithm OnX is using

If you want to follow your own custom route, you will have to do it manually, without turn-by-turn guidance

Ok that makes sense. Appreciate the feedback. I'm new to the app and was wondering what it was doing. Thanks again

Here is a video showing what's happening in the app. You can see the custom route I created. When I choose to navigate the route, the directions go bonkers lol.

Looks like some apple nonsense to me. My work phone is apple, Onx works so much better with my samsung.

I begin the planned off-road route where the trail begins (where I leave pavement). I use waypoints dropped across the entire off-road part of the route until I am done with that trail and arrive at another road. Save the route. When I'm ready to go, I select the route, tap navigate and use Apple Maps or Waze to route me to the beginning of the trail route I programmed. I don't use OnX for raids/streets.
