I'm not a soccer mom but am debating on the Outer Banks. I don't go off road that often but want a nice customizable body-on-frame SUV which is increasingly difficult to come by. I drove "real" SUVs in the 90s and am just not a fan of unibody crossovers.

I will probably end up with the Black Diamond because of the washout interior and body armor, but don't think the OB is just a poser-mobile. It's just a different use case of a very customizable architecture.
ZERO BRONCOS ARE POSER MOBILES
Some people just use less capabilities. A soccer mom needs 4WD to go skiing!

I used to be all about basic...but now that I've had cars with bells and whistles I realized what I was missing.

No reason you can't go offroad in comfort

Who else is on the list for an outer banks?

The wife and I put in for an oxford white 4 door. We plan on getting the 2.7 and the high package. Im a sucker for that huge 12 inch screen.

Oh and of course the modular black hard top roof.
How are people "putting in" For a color.
When I reserved there was no way to specify color. Only model/trim

I think they’re talking about the body color. Black hardtop is known to be an option because it comes standard on the Wildtrak. As far as the reservations go, you’re right. You pick the color when you actually place the order, but you can always post your decision here in the meantime ?

Yeah nobody is putting in for anything because none of it matters. People are just stating what they want.

Funny thing is I think 80% of them are going to change when the actual pricing comes out.

Oh for sure pricing is going to affect alot of folks decisions.

Hell I am still up in the air on the color. I want to see better representations of the colors before I can make up my mind.

If ventilation on leather seats isn't available, my order is at risk. Ventilation option has become a "must-have" for my wife. She is next up for car purchase and we're shopping for dual role daily driver for her, and adventure vehicle for us. May have to wait to see what 2022 4Runner and Grand Cherokee have to offer. Boo-hoo, because we really want the Bronco. (Edited to change "I" to "we" in the last sentence :) )

There is some wisdom there :) . My recommendation is 2021 Highlander Hybrid with Platinum trim. After we refill the coffers a bit I can clear a couple cars on my side of the garage and get the Bronco.

So I don't know it took me so long, but I was reading another post and my light went off. Basically the Wildtrak is the OuterBanks with the packages I want (Mid, 2.7, Sas, HardTop) and it is 10K more.

And that doesn't even cover my optional stand alones like Towing, B&O, and possible adaptive cruise.

I'm torn between what I can buy and what I should buy and if the latter wins out, I may be down to a Big Bend with those added packages and miss out on some of the little xtras you get with the OB :(

We will never be able to understand how to select a model until we can see the Stand Alone Options, Options Packages, and their cost.
If its anything like building an F150 - you need to start with a few different trim levels, then layer in different Option Packages & Stand Alone Options - Until you complete a couple different builds that you can compare Apples to Apples.
Building an F-150 is super complicated. I dread the process of building my Bronco.
Then of course the additional variable of just buying parts, if what you need is not available as a Standalone Option - Like if you want colored mirror caps on a Base.... omg

Ok, I've been thinking through my ventilated leather problem. I went back to OBX features on the Ford website, and see that cloth seats come as standard; leather is optional. Pretty sure we can live with cloth! My daily driver is a VW Golf with black cloth seats. It cooks in our factory parking lot all day and has never been too hot to sit on, even in Texas summer heat.

Crossing fingers the cloth interior will be offered in light colors and looks attractive. Will propose to wife that we order with cloth, and that she give it a try. If she doesn't like it we can pass it down to me and get her something else :)

BTW I researched the Lincoln Aviator - Car & Driver, Motor Trend, Build & Price. Getting good reviews and looks good, inside and out. $$$$ Hopefully takes some sales away from three-pointed star, rotating propeller, and "L".

It's ironic how much back and forth I know I have personally done between Trims and such... and yet I feel the same with you when it comes to color. If one Trim only offers dark butt interior colors, and a different trim has the lighter.. I'm probably going with the lighter... maybe even if it means Vinyl vs Cloth vs Leather.

I can't stand all dark interiors just like I can't stand all black cars. Need to have some character to the thing!
