Can I hear from anyone who painted their MIC top. I was told by my dealer if I paint my wife's hard top white Ford said it will void warranty on the hard top? Does that seem right?

Yes, that seems right to void the warranty. They don't even want you to wax it or even look at it strange.

Can't blame them. Ford has no idea what products were used on the top so for sure voids the warranty.

Maybe wrap instead. That way when it cracks, the wrap will hold all the pieces together.

well damn it my wife is going to be pissed, I will look into wrapping it instead. Ford was going to paint them originally so I did not see what the big issue would be.

The mod tops to be painted are not the same material.

Yeah anytime you modify something, it has the potential to void warranty. Painting something requires prep work which certainly is altering the finish of the top, pretty much promise you that you won't get any kind of warranty from that roof once you do that.

I believe even taking the top off voids warranty.

I'm sure it doesn't but you should probably document your removal just in case based on some off the things I've seen. At this rate I'll never get a chance to find out since Ford can't build me a Bronco, and if they don't build it before price protection ends I'll be cancelling.

You got a top? Well there goes the warranty!

But seriously, I could understand that. Prep and prime could interact chemically with the top. If it were me and I were concerned, I would try Plastidip - first a small section and make sure it comes off.

Yes this would void it for the top.

Most dealers and Ford’s warranty folks will give a hard top anyways for claims related to the top. I think if I had one I would get it painted once I knew I had a structurally sound one
