I randomly had that a couple months ago. Restarted and went away.

Parking Brake broke, or just taking a break.

Can you still hear it engaging when activated?

no. it won't engage. and i thought bc it was the parking break i'd still be able to drive it. but more alarms starting going off and flashing lights. I didn't make it 40yds before i turned around and parked it back in the driveway.

haven't started it this morning yet tho.

Thx. I promise you, no lie, I searched and nothing came up. Why I created this post. :)

Now, the alarm goes off before I even turn the car on. As soon as I open the door it starts dinging and flashing.

Anyway, having it towed today. since it's a brake alarm, I'm not risking it. Dealer can fix it first before I drive it again.

Same alert I received a few days ago and thankfully no other notifications. The only other warning I've received on my 2021 was back in January for a "Powertrain Malfunction" and that ended with a passenger-side turbo replacement. Hoping the "Park Brake Fault" is a non-issue, @Ford Motor Company

To update... Ford towed it and the dealer fixed it. Reason I was told was an OTA update messed up the electronic park software. Re-install fixed it right up.

Great now the OTA updates can also ruin your day with bad E brake programs. Just fantastic....

So with a manual that rolls away without the parking brake applied, what are you supposed to do? Carry something to block your wheels with when you park and it has a failure? Give me the darn manual parking brake any day over these glitchy electronics.

FYI - I had this happen and it wasn’t the update. I engaged the parking brake and when I went to disengage it gave me this error. Despite that, it would make an audible noise when engaging/disengaging and would act differently, so it was clearly working in some form or fashion. But that wouldn’t stop it from beeping non-stop. Turns out it needed a new motor for it, and they’re seeing this happen with some of these. It was covered under warranty. Nothing like complicating a parking brake. I hope this helps someone!

Any idea what the cost would have been?

I had a Subaru elec E-brake go bad .... $700.

Years later, they issued a recall. I had saved my receipts ... actually the wife did, that is her thing, lol ... and they refunded my $$$.

$700 e brake motors
$BIG$$ sway bar disconnects on the Badlands that are NOT serviceable
$1000 tail lights

All this progress is putting us in the poor house!!! LOL

Great... I had the parking brake error today while running errands. Popped up when I opened the door, before even starting it. I was parked on a very slight incline, so it may have tried to apply it while I was in the store. It went away after I started so I didn't sweat it.

Very tempting to turn off updates.

Ok just looked at the receipt. Unfortunately no price is listed. But the official part that had to be replaced was the actuator motor.
