Picking up my 2 door base model “El Cheapo” tomorrow. I’d like to put some bigger tires on it, how big can I go?

I’m wondering if anyone has upgraded their tires on the base 2 door. Factory tire (255/70/16) height is 30 inches and just wondering how much taller you can go. No lift, factory rims.

32 come on the black diamond with the same suspension. There are wheels for sale in the member marketplace for good prices

16” is tough because of the metric sizes. BTDT. I started with 265/75-16 which are 32x11.00 ish. I would imagine you could go 295/75-16 which would give you 34 ish in height. The +55 may limit clearance with the upper arm. I’m not sure you can get a 35” tire in a 16” rim size.

I went to +35 backspacing and 35x10.50-17 and am really happy.

I just saw BFG 315/75-16 muds. That would be a35x12.50-16. I would assume you would have clearance issues with the upper arm. Anyone try this yet?

It was really just a coin flip for me between a base with no options except AUX switches and a Badlands LUX.

Badlands one out due to the front a rear lockers, and if I have to have an infotainment screen I want it to be huge.

I would have been all over a low tech, no turbo, manual transmission, manual windows and locks Bronco.

I got a base base 2.3 m/t with aux switches. I would have loved a crank window, 5.0 m/t option. Just sayin.

33 is about as big as you can go stock.

285 75 R16 would work.

If it was me I would go to a 32.

Either 235 85 R16 or 265 75 R16 jn a good AT would totally change your vehicles look and traction.

There are a lot of tire options at 285/75/R16. Not so much for new wheels because of the uncommon offset. I wouldn't push past 285, even if you could find a shop willing to do it. At that point, if you want bigger, find some take-offs at 17" and be prepared to remove the crash bars. Or you can go aftermarket at 17" where there are 10x the choices.

Thank you all for the great info, I was hoping to stuff a 295/75/16 in there but it looks like the 285/75/16 is going to be a safer bet as far as rubbing goes.

295/75R16
Diameter : 33.4"
Width : 11.6"
Wheel : 16" x 7.5-9.5"
Sidewall : 8.7"
Circum. : 104.9"
Revs/Mile : 604

If you are staying with the factory wheels at 7in width, I'd go 255/85/16s. If you are staying on a budget and want bigger tires than that, look for a set of takeoff Badland wheels/tires.

I have five 255/70/r18 wheels and tires off an Outer Banks for sale for $600 in Jacksonville, FL. These tires are 32" and about 1" larger than what you currently have.

I dig it, cool little rig. Only drove it 10 miles and it’s quite nimble, I can tell I’m going to like it.

it’s about as ugly a Bronco as you’ll see, tires will help a lot.
