Picking up my 2 door base model “El Cheapo” tomorrow. I’d like to put some bigger tires on it, how big can I go?

If you are staying with the factory wheels at 7in width, I'd go 255/85/16s. If you are staying on a budget and want bigger tires than that, look for a set of takeoff Badland wheels/tires.
I’d like to stay with the factory rims, not a cost thing, just preference .

I think the 255/85/16 would not only give you tire tallness look, it would give you the classic pizza cutter tire look too!! That would be the size I'd go for or possibly the 265/75/16.

I would go 285/75/16 max because of the gearing. You won't have any clearance issues and it won't be a dog.
I’m kinda surprised at the performance, don’t think the bigger tire (weight and gear ratio) will matter in my case but for others it may. Those little tires may be tricking me with the acceleration it has.

2.3 liter turbo, 4 banger, 7 speed manual

I have the 4.70 gears and going from 33s to 35s was noticeably slower so I wouldn't want to run 35s on a the 4.46 gears.

With 33s and 4.46 gears I find 6th gear too high for my driving. I use crawl a lot. It’s still way better than my Tacoma, but 4.88s would have been perfect.

I dig it, cool little rig. Only drove it 10 miles and it’s quite nimble, I can tell I’m going to like it.

it’s about as ugly a Bronco as you’ll see, tires will help a lot.

I don't think its ugly at all, the simplicity is what makes it beautiful.
