Not every dealership is bad. The Mercedes dealership I’ve been dealing with for 30+ years is fantastic - both buying and service experience. But these unicorn dealerships are hard to find. Have yet to find a trustworthy Ford dealer in my area.
Most Mercedes dealers are pretty darn good! I had the best service ever at mine. It’s the only reason I kept buying them. Broken down, no problem, we’ll upgrade you until we can get yours back to you. Free car wash at service and also M-S, you could drive up and get a free car wash if you purchased there. Knock on wood I have been lucky with the Ford dealer closest to me that is servicing my car.

My dealer's service dept is a trainwreck. Months of waiting to even be seen and they've lied to my face several times. I'm stuck there though without driving waaay out of my way.

I would agree with you on some level. I bought a 2022 in October 22. Great sales experience for the most part but service at Crossroads want nearly as good. However, within the same distance (only issue was they didn’t gave a sellable bronco on the lot), but the service dept has mu business. I won’t ever go back to crossroads when I can go to Conway Ford (SC) and get great friendly service with Wendy, the service writer there. They are great!

I owned Acuras from the mid-90's to 2012. I had gotten to know the service manager and the service writers. Was on a first name basis with all of them. Treated them with respect and they always took care of me.

One time, I had gotten into an accident right around the corner from the dealership. The car was driveable, but a headlight was damaged and the front bumper cover was ripped off. The cop told me I had to take the bumper cover with me. So, I stuffed it in the back with the trunk open and pulled up to the service bay.

It was a Friday evening, and they were closing up. I knocked on the overhead door to get the service manager's attention. When she saw me, she smiled and started walking towards the door. Her smile instantly changed to shock when she saw the front of my car. When I told her I just wanted to drop off the bumper cover and let them know I would be in the next day to get an estimate at their body shop, she instantly said, "you can't drive that car!". I told her it was fine, but she insisted and pulled a brand-new car right off the lot which I drove for two weeks while my car was getting repaired. THey didn't even charge the insurance company for the loaner.

Every Christmas I would bring them all a small gift basket. Nothing expensive, just something to let them know how much I appreciated them.

We had a 2010 F-150 that was a nightmare with repairs. Ended up befriending the service manager who saved me a ton of money when the truck was out of warranty. He has since moved to a new dealership and that's where I'm going to go for any service work instead of where I purchased it.

In 2012 I purchased a new Cadillac CTS-coupe, the service department was terrible. When I traded that car in a year and a half later for a CTS-V coupe, I went to a different dealer and got to know one of the service writers. I always asked for him and he would ALWAYS take care of me. One time even going out a renting a car from Enterprise because they didn't have loaners. He even apologized because it was a Dodge.

Bottom line, like others have said, if you find a good service writer, always ask for them and always let them know how much you appreciate them.
