Long story short, got a Steeda Axleback months ago from a friend, and combo'd with the CVF Downpipe, it drones. My previous two attempts to fix it were a bust (wrong sized Resonator and wrong muffler as guy selling his meant Bronco Sport), so now I'm at a different conclusion; get a touring exhaust that is just a hair louder than OEM but also looks better.

I do like how the Steeda and Downpipe crackles and pops, but not a fan of turning up my music to kill the drone, but then again, if I'm gonna replace it, might as well be styling about it, so here we are. Any suggestions appreciate, esp as next month I'm driving 14hrs to Tennessee, so wanna not be in the drone zone.

Thanks in advance

I have Gibson exhaust and its pretty tame, muffler is next to the driveshaft. Very slight drone at 1.4K rpms with the 2.3. I would look for something with 2 mufflers if you really want to avoid drone. Two separate mufflers stand the best chance of moving resonance frequency lower than drive rpms

Surely you cant be surprised about how much louder a tiny ass glasspack is compared to a suitcase sized.. chambered.. factory equipped muffler lol...

Good god 🤦🏻‍♀️

Another vote for MRT...great products & sound. Makes your Bronco motor better than a giant fan. ;) :D

Both the MRT and Steeda "mufflers" are simply fart cans. Straight through. Little bit of fiberglass in the body to.... really not do anything meaningful for noise reduction lol.

Dudes got a couple choices.. as I'm sure the thing IS loud AF..

Swap back to the factory downpipe, swap back to the factory muffler, find an aftermarket axleback that has a CHAMBERED muffler.. or add a dozen more glass packs between the cat and the tailpipe. Simple as that.

The MRT Goat was surprising less noisy than stock - particularly at higher RPM.

At idle it’s about the same dB-wise, but the note shifts down lower so it isnt as noticeable. On the highway and trail it’s notably quieter.

You don't want the backpressure of a chambered muffler after the turbo. Single exit makes the most sense on a single turbo. The passenger exit ones usually have a bigger muffler. Maybe the extra length moves the drone to a lower rpm? I'm not sure. Driver's side exit might be better for performance with a couple less bends. One with a resonator and a muffler might be quiet enough.

This isn't a problem in the least bit, partly why probably every single factory turbo vehicle comes with a chambered muffler... The other reason is noise reduction..

You're completely wrong as far as MRT goes.
