Rear A/C

Are the floor vents and rear a/c functional on your bronco?

Hello friends, I sold my bronco a year ago but I’m curious if the rear a/c has been improved at all on the 4-door? On max air settings, the airflow was anemic and about as effective as a wet noodle. Nevermind the location of the vents, which is ideal for blowing farts back into your face.

I know there’s gonna be some old school guys saying why you whining son? Back in my day, you got all the a/c you need by rollin down the window. This question is not for you lol.

I don't think they have rear AC at all. There is the underfloor vent, but I think that only blows with the floor vent (and even then, not really much)

The Chinese version is bringing rear vents - we may get that in 2025 with an update.

Bronco HVAC is better handled like you remember it - pop the top and roll down the windows. The AC can handle the front passengers, but anyone sitting in the back is more or less left to fend for themselves - on heating or AC really.

All models come with the 460 AC. 4 windows down and go 60. But yes the Bronco should have rear vents. Those things by rear passenger feet are a joke. What’s funny is Ford has a video out and they mention how much went into design of dash vents and handles. Forgot the rear.

I love broncos. But it’s a bit odd that you can spec out a fully loaded bronco….and the rear a/c doesn’t work. What the ford!

I remember seeing someone dissect the center console. If I got another one, I would have to do some kind of DIY airflow routing.

I wonder if ventilation toward the rear could be increased by placing a small fan at the tail gate vent? It would be easy to temporarily install one as a check. I am a two door with no rear passengers so someone else would want to try it.... My guess is that if you want air to travel to the back this would significantly increase the movement.

I am guessing here but I think there might be a little bit of a pressure area building up behind the spare (where air is suppose to be a vacuum and draw the cabin air out).

I have been tempted to get a little 12V auto outlet clip on fan to stick back there. Equally tempted to get a small space heater for that same setup for the winter. Haven't pulled the trigger only because I haven't found exactly what I was looking for yet.

How did you set up the "clip fan"? ie. where did you place it and what direction was it blowing?

whoops... I see you have not done that yet... I would place it blowing out the tailgate vent... That area on the driver's side of the tail gate with the "vents".... It is meant to "vacuum" air out of the cabin through the inside of the tail gate and out the vents behind the spare tire.

I haven't - just one of those ideas that if I ever see the right one I'll get it. Kinda sorta thought about mounting on the roll bar or D pillar or something since there are a lot of various mounting holes there, but haven't found one I like well enough to try it out with yet.

Sorry caught that after the fact....

HAHA I may be that old guy however I don't want to roll the windows down in this heat, but this back seat AC issue appears overblown to me.
Yes I would like to see some actual vents for the rear, especially for the price of this thing, with that said the AC in my Bronco 4dr blows like a hurricane and is ice cold, I never hear from the back seat that its to hot however I do get asked to turn the AC down as its cold enough in the back seats.

Do you point the center vents up and straight back so it cools the cabin or do you point them straight at the front passengers only? Sharing is caring.
I am in central FL and its hot here so I do know a little about this subject, that's my perspective anyway.

I smell more than farts with this post! You sold your Bronco a year ago and come here to complain about something trivial. If you wanted to know if they added rear vents a search would give you the answer in 10 seconds. The AC in my Bronco is kickass, it isn't necessary having it blow in your face.

No rear AC but I usually turn off the underfloor vents when I have passengers in the backseat and that cools plenty and some. Never noticed/had anyone complain about the AC not being enough
