Has anyone removed their stock roof rack? I’m having trouble figuring out how to detach the rear hook ups! Thanks in-advance

Are your using the torque tool Ford provided ? The bolt threads into a barrel nut. Once I get one side loose enough to unhook, I put a thin wood shim under the hook to keep it from engaging again. If you end up removing the bolt, it’s not problem restarting it into the barrel nut once off the truck.

Okay so once you remove the triangle bolt shimmy it off the hook?

Try not to remove the bolt all the way. Just enough to slide the hook past the MIC notch. If the bolt does come off, you can reattach it.

Just installed/removed mine today for the first time.
The first 1:30 of this Ford video shows how to remove the Rack as a unit.

I just loosened the triangle bolt till it was enough...didn't use a shim.

Okay maybe that’s what I was doing wrong. I’ll just loosen it enough that it’ll be able to unlatch. I took the bolt all the way out and it wasn’t releasing.

Mine was a pain the first time I removed it. The clamps didn't want to open and release the edge of the rear cap. I've heard it gets better after you remove it the first few times.

What a crappy design. Unscrewed the triangle bolts all the way and still could not get the clamps to stay out far enough to lift off. Need Torx 30, Torx 27, 10mm. I had to take the whole damned thing apart. Just as well, as I need to reset the middle bars farther forward for the Yakima box. I like it better aesthetically without the rack.
