I can't figure out why roof rack or sound deadening is not available with 2.7L engine?

There's a few things that I can't figure out either Mike. I'm thinking there are some mistakes or glitches in the B/P page, and Ford will smooth it out soon. Hopefully.......

It seems to depend on which flavor Bronco you want. It's super aggravating. At first I thought it was a bug with the web site, but there's been no comment from Ford at all.

My best guess, after playing with several different flavors, is that combining the 2.7L engine, the 4.7 ratio, and the roof rails might make the fuel economy not fit with some regulatory requirement. Otherwise removing the roof rails just doesn't make sense in several of these combinations. ESPECIALLY given that the 2 door version of the same flavor *can* have roof rails. For example Wildtrack 4 door cannot have roof rails at all, where they are available for the 2 door version.

As it stands I think I'm probably going to have to ala-carte the headliner and roof rails aftermarket, or perhaps just pick a different flavor though that will mean losing the coveted swaybar disconnect.

It would be really nice if Ford would give some confirmation or correction on the matter.

Does anyone else find this strange? Why would the smaller engine only be selectable with the roof rack and sound deadening headliner? Is this another mistake on the B&P? I have been able to get everything except these two on my build. Another thing that would be nice is to get the beadlock wheels without having the Sasquatch package.
In Canada, I was able to add sound deadening to the MIC top on a 4-door Wildtrak. But not a non-Sasquatch 4-door, Badlands with the 2.7L. So confusing!

Initially thought the BL couldn’t get sound deadening headliner because of the weight of the sway bar disconnect. However, the first edition has both standard so I donno haha

Yeah the more I fiddle with it the less it makes sense for the info we have. Why is it I can build the Bronco I want in 2 door, but if I want *that* in 4 door then I have to lose the roof rails and headliner?

For test: Bronco Badlands, select headliner, roof rails, 4.7 ratio, 2.7L engine, lux package.
2dr, no problem.
4dr, denied, cannot have 2.7L with Roof Rails and Headliner.

I "spoke" to someone in Ford's help chat. Here's the chat log (names removed):

Hi <support person>! Is there a reason the roof rails and hard top sound deadening headliner is incompatible with the 2.7 L engine on the 4 door Bronco Badlands, but it'll work fine on the 2 door?

Thank you for your interest in the Bronco. We are still in the preview mode and have not yet received all of the ordering specifications for this model, nor do we have the availability to confirm or clarify package compatibility. We plan to have this information available sometime around the middle of December. We encourage you to work through the Build and Price tool to see what configurations are currently available.

So... there we have it. Ford knows the B&P is a bit whimsical and officially plans to fix it around mid-December, but in the mean time they'd like us to keep playing with it, even though its information is probably not accurate.

Obviously has something to do with federal tip-over regs. It just kinda makes sense. I'm not an engineer, so don't ask me why 2-door v. 4-door. That's the way it is livin' Down-East.

Agree. There has been enough response/reaction from the buyers on all of the websites by now. They should have made a statement - even if they plan to leave B&P unchanged. Very disappointed in how they are responding (aka not responding) to the consumers. No change probably means a lost order from me.

I understand this in relation to the roof rack, but the sound deadening unavailability is just bush league and an easy fix.

sigh...

Given that B&P lets you add roof rails and the sound deadening headliner to a WT, which has Sasquatch and the 2.7L but disallows adding them to a Badlands with either the 2.7L OR Sasquatch, I do not think your guess is correct.
