This sound sketchy. I got a message from a brand new member with no post history or likes that has a modular bumper for me. He is asking $550 shipping included. This sound like a scam? He asked for $300 up front and the balance at delivery. Any suggestions for a secure sale? Or just walk away?

Where do they live? Pic of vehicle it came off of and VIN? Should be a non issue if within driving distance.

definitely sounds sketchy...but not out of the realm of possibility someone was browsing and not posting, every forum has lurkers. Even a brand new member can be legit. But yeah, get pics and verify it's within driving distance etc. do your due diligence like you would any sale online.

Sounds fishy (phishy?), because why would a seller you don't know selectively or even randomly target "just you" in a post? What is it about you that they would know, causing them to think you are a prime buyer for this bumper?? Most everyone who wants to sell something makes a general post for everyone to see and respond to. My view is that they are trying to ping forum members individually hoping to find trusting/unsuspecting individuals who are actually willing to send $300 "up front". I would run for the hills . . .

This!!! I’m a lurker by nature. I was going to buy some rims and tires for a super good price. I sent a pic of the bronco the day we picked it up and agreed to price. Then my boss lady shot me down which shocked me because just the tires alone was worth the price. So I had to regrettably cancel the sale. I was going to go pick them up though. But similar circumstances and I sent a pic to deskechy myself

Tell him to ship after you put in escrow at an attorney's office. Upon receipt, funds get released. OR WALK AWAY.

walk away. they'd be showing off pic's of their Bronco with its new bumper if it weren't a scam.

Also, update your post with this new members id/name so we know who it is. Might as well out them!
