Shelby Bronco Anyone?

I am a life-long Shelby enthusiast starting in high school when I bought a 1968 GT500 convertible for $1200.00. Over the years, I have owned several other Shelby vehicles including a 2007 that I sent to Nevada to have Shelby American do a Super Snake upgrade to it. Since Shelby has upgrades to numerous Ford products, it would seem that maybe a Shelby Bronco would be up for grabs.

When I sent my 2007 GT500 in it was priced pretty reasonably but now the upgrades are getting up there. With that said, I wonder what Shelby would do to a Bronco. What engine tweaks or upgrades, brakes, hood and graphics. Might be interesting to see how much and how many folks would be interested.

Shelby American packages are terrible investments for the most part. The 07-12 gt500’s with the Alcoa’s did well but everything else has been a depreciation killer. You will over pay for the name. The genius of Phil Remington, Ken Miles and Peter Brock are long gone.

Hell they had Kirkham make their 50th anniv 427 cobra’s.

Their recent super snake packages are mustang gt’s with bolt on parts, stickers and different wheels like any aftermarket shop. They are a marketing firm more than a performance shop.

When they photoshopped the Shelby 1000 lifting the front wheels and then blamed the photographer was the final straw for me.

Sad to see the true speed shop legacy be so tarnished anymore.

Why would you want to send an ORV to a speed shop? I would never send a '69 Hemi Dart to an ORV shop for suspension upgrades.

I sold my GT500 last month to make room for the Bronco, does that count as a Shelby-Bronco? Maybe too soon, as now it seems I'll have to go all next summer without a toy???

Old Shelby are awesome. Shelby American imo is way over priced for what you get.

If you see anything from Shelby it will not be until a Ford Performance version hits the streets. I would suspect it would follow the same formula of current builds. Mostly branded bolt-on parts with the Shelby logo. It is the most cost-effective way to build with little development costs.

The company moved in that direction shortly after Carroll passed. It is definitely not the same company in many respects. With the move of the factory from Las Vegas Speedway to just off the strip, the cost of the move had to be passed along in some way. The Shelby name still has luster with vintage builds. Auction results prove that.

After the GT500 KR program and the last remaining vehicles out of the Mod Shop, values have not held on the new product. Other than specialty builds like the Hertz program and ended with the 2014 GT500 model run. The Shelby BAJA and Raptor builds were in discussion the first year of release of that product but management at the time felt there was no market. And that program ended up being one of the most profitable for the company I understand.

You will not see a Shelby converted factory built GT350 or GT500 due to licensing. That is why you see their own build on a Mustang GT to GT350. The GT500 may appear as a modified 1000hp Super Snake. It would not be a surprise.
