I folded the top back this afternoon to the first position and I was making sure it made a nice ‘S’ shape in the fabric. I noticed that the tension cable on the passenger side was loose, and it was not in its holder.

I placed it back in there, but it looks to me like the housing for it is bent and allows it to just pop out again.

Can someone please post a picture of their passenger side tension cable and see if the rearmost ‘holder’ for it is flush with the holder next to it? Mine looks like it is bent under slightly (further into the vehicle), compared to the drivers side which sits flush.

I’ve included the drivers side and passenger side pictures of mine.

I wonder if that’s where my odd sounding rattle is coming from. Did you hear any noise while driving?

Almost looks similar to how a bicycle brake cable is connected to the brakes. Might be by design, not sure though.

I don't recall hearing any noise. I even had my wife look out the window to see if it was flapping around after I noticed it. It didn't appear to be moving around and hitting anything.

I reconnected it, but it already came loose again (as shown in the picture).

Yes, it's pretty much exactly like that. I just want to see a picture of someone else's passenger side, as the left most area of the metal clip doesn't sit flush with the middle part of the clip, like it does on the drivers side, which is allowing it to slip out (as shown in the second picture).

Top pic is the drivers side, bottom pic is the passenger side. I just want to know if they should look the same, or if they are asymmetrical.

Thank you so much for doing that, I appreciate it.

So it does look like my passenger one is slightly pushed back for some reason, they should be symmetrical. That's good to know.

But also interesting to see that on both of yours, the tension cable isn't set down in that second channel nearest the canvas, so I guess it's not a huge issue then. I'll mention it when I am next at the dealership.

I believe all these do is keep the roofline taught on the back part of the soft-top (which the velcro also does), they are NOT part of the mechanical operation of the top.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Do you mean here? I tried to push them back in but there is no retainer on mine. They just lift back up. Mine was also a demo vehicle so I’m sure the windows have been off and on and maybe not reassembled properly.

Yes, that part you circled. On my driver's side it's nestled down in there, on my passenger side, yesterday, it was all the way out, just flapping around, I put it back in place (but like yours, couldn't just slide it in that circled area) and by the time I'd put the top back up and closed it, the tension cable is where you see it in the second photo, it had pulled out again.

Are you sure that the cables are supposed to be run over the top of the side windows, and not behind them? Not having my Bronco delivered yet I have nothing to refer to but, it looks to me like the side windows are causing the cable to come out out of their retainers and possible become loose.
