Went through numerous pages of parts diagrams and didn't find anything that looked remotely close to that. Everything in the catalogue had some sort of fastener associated with it. The consensus of it being a sound deadener is probably right and probably won't be right above or super close to anything really hot since it looks like the black goo is the only thing holding it to the body.
