Right on! I was fixing to remove the whole panel and this saved me some time. It is 90% better with this fix. Still have some high frequency bass buzz going on but it doesn’t sound like I have a plastic box of screws in back anymore.

Well bois, I think I sent her a little too fu.. wait. Wrong post.

Oh, tailgate slash subwoofer rattle? Problem solved in 30 seconds or less, or you get your money back.

First, go open the tailgate and look above the subwoofer. There's a little panel like this:

Rip that mother off real gingerly like and take a gander. You'll see that the side of the trim is rubbing that black doohickey.

You can even see the little marks where it's been rubbing.

Ok, here is where it gets tricky.. aquire yourself one premium Costco brand blue shop towel, fold that guy in half a time or three and jam it in there between the trim and that black thingermaboob.

Reattach trim and Bobs your aunty.

This got rid of 98% of that horrid rattle. I don't have a patreon, but sub to my only fans for some hot Bronco on Bronco action.

This is GUARANTEED to fix your problem.

(This is not a guarantee).

This is obviously a temporary solution, I'm looking for some dynamat. In my case, that stupid 12v outlet cover is rattling a bit as well.. but this is a HUGE improvement already.

UPDATE: My newest mod. Keeps my rattle stopper close by for future issues.

Another common buzz (a lot of people think its the airbag) are the roof connection points right over the driver and passenger head. The plastic trim piece is just floating there connected to metal and will rattle like crazy after a bit. I'm not sure if its a problem with the soft top as I have the hard top but I assume is the same.

Hard to see in the photo, but I'm talking about the piece connected to the sport bar, not the roof panel.

There are still some rattles for sure. I’m adjusting my windows tomorrow so I will remove the rear cargo trim panels as well and do a proper Noico and felt taping. I’ll check on the front but haven’t heard rattling from there yet.

Did you have to sacrifice your bottle opener for that storage solution? Travesty.

Nah that's just a magnetic shop towel holder. I move it around as needed. The single best upgrade you can do for your Bronco, I'm telling ya. Makes cleaning up the occasional dog vomit nice n easy. It gets bumpy out there...

Fixed window drop and felted / Noico doors and addressed the cargo interior trim. I am so happy! It doesn’t sound like a bag of tin cans in the back.

I can turn it to distortion now with no rattle. Which now the weak link is the sub/amp/speaker quality but sounds good enough. I don’t wanna entice folks with knives any more than they already are. Also just sounds quiet with no noticeable click and ticks driving down the road.

I'm in the same boat. I have stuffed so many shop rags in there I'm worried about it being a fire hazard! Really though, can someone make a video of how to take the entire rear panel off? I don't want to break anything.

I've narrowed down my rattle to the white plastic part on the left side of this seat belt assembly. This is on the passenger side behind the rear seats. I have the B&O sub enclosure installed with the 8" 2 ohm kicker CompRT shallow mount. Haven't pulled the trigger on re-installing the trim panel yet. Debating putting my amp in place of the sub box and buying a down firing shallow mount enclosure for the trunk. Let me know if anyone's interested in the B&O enclosure with the Kicker sub installed. Willing to make a deal.

Thanks!

Ugh. Mine is back rattling like crazy again. Guess I’ll order more fasteners, sound deadening, and felt tape and go at it again. Some of the rattle was the AIG lift assist I’m pretty sure. I have those removed for the moment.

I just used of the that really thin packing material that they wrap glasses and such in instead of the blue shop towel. That definitely reduced the buzz. But there is still some there. If I hold the removable panel snug with hand it reduces the buzz a little more. I am going to see about tightening that screw/bolt mentioned in this thread.

Finally got around to installing the Kilmat since the paper towel temp fix stopped working.

3 hours later, the subwoofer induced rattle is completely gone. Haven't done a car stereo since I was a kid so I forgot how much a pain it is to detach/reattach panels - be gentle with the clips - I got lucky and didn't break any. Also, lots of sharp edges in there - not so lucky - cut my hands no kidding 5 times (3 left, 2 right). But she's done. Pictures attached and happy to answer any questions.

Damn naaaace hack! Actually sounds like a whole different system. That rattle was distorting the bass, and you know what they say, never eat distorted bass.

I actually used a towel first then realized it was dampening some bass response so I cut an n95 mask and folded it up until it was about the size of a quarter. Now that's delicious bass!
