With that big of a drop hitch I think you were way over the tongue weight rating.
my guess too. not saying it should have happened but see why it could.

may have needed a reinforced drop hitch since you are pulling max tow on that lift with a big drop. if you get it straightened out look at bulletproof or similar.

I’m going to guess no trailer brakes?? Trailer brakes would of likely prevented this from happening as the trailer would of been able to provide some stopping power of its own as opposed to placing all of the pressure of stopping on the hitch When you slammed on the brakes.

Since you were close to max tow capacity the 6” drop hitch likely created enough leverage to bend the receiver.

Damn, this post and the other one make it hard to understand if that cross member is weak or if folks are just putting too much pressure on that cross member.
Both, apparently...

Once the next gen Ranger is out, there should be something like this that might bolt up on the Bronco. Which would be a Much Better setup that the current offerings.

I would not doubt it if we start seeing more of this, if the Bronco is lifted and a drop hitch is used it is creating a large torsional force on the hitch/crossmember which needs to be taken into account when considering the weight of the trailer being towed. This is also going to happen if a long hitch extension is used with the tongue weight is at or near maximum.

A weight distributing hitch can also cause this if spring bars are too stiff (don't use one that is rated for 800 pounds, there are plenty of choices in the 200-300 pound range)
