I had same issue when I purchased a takeoff OEM soft top. I loosened the mounting bolts and slide it forward. Unfortunately only the two end bolts are in line to screw tight so I don't have the middle lower bolt in place. By doing this, I was able to make the center connect on the top and it also latches near the windshield. We had some rain and no leaks and wind noise is minimal.

I didn't want to adjust the front mounts near windshield since it's in the right spot for my hardtop panel since I'll be switching back and forth a couple times a year. The mounting brackets have alot of play/adjustment space which I thought was weird.

My first bronco was a 2.3L with the soft top. I was adamant about a hard top with the 2.7. I now have a 2023 2.7 badlands 4dr hard top but miss the ease of the soft top with unexpected rain. Unfortunately I do not have room to store the back end of the hard top and it takes two people to remove and put back. Portland Oregon Here and I absolutely love my Bronco even after having to wait for 2 years
