If I install a tie rod sleeve or brace on my bronco, will the problem with the tie rods move up into the steering rack?

I’ve broken 2 tie rods and want to not worry about it.

Interested in seeing these responses. I've got a set of Icon tie rods I haven't put on yet...

Yes. The tie rod is designed as the fusible link. Strengthening the tie rod moves the fusible link to your steering rack.

If you keep breaking tie rods you should look at the HOSS 3.0 steering rack.

Also re-evaluate your wheel and tire weight, running the front locker, and driving habits.

What are you doing / driving to break the tie rods? Driving styles are different for everybody, but the bottom line is you’re hitting stuff at a bad angle, or not missing obstacles.

The short answer is definitely YES! The shock has to transfer somewhere. I upgraded to Foutz tie rods. Really nice billet rods, and expensive too, LOL. Cost is $1K. I will eventually upgrade the steering box, probably to a 74Weld set up, but for now, no complaints.

I'm not doing too much rock crawling in North Carolina. Mostly light/medium trails and some trips on the sand at the OBX. Mainly got the Icon tie rods because i'm running 37s. Are the Icons going to be overkill for what I'm doing?

The tie rods break when the tires are spinning and a little bit of bouncing. They have broken in Moab and Sand Hollow.

Your wheels have to be turned too. That’s where the torque comes into play, snapping the weakest link.

When rolling over or hitting an object, yes straight on is best. Less torque / chance of breaking.

I've got the Hoss3.0 and did the sleeve temporarily. One day when I grow up, bronco will have the 74weld billet rack. Funds are just a bit tight right now. 😁

My type of wheeling is a much slower pace, not even a pace, just a crawl while on the rocks and hills for the most part.
