I made this one...happy to walk you thru in more detail...but a few guys did MDF, painted plywood, carpet covered plywood etc...mine was more of a go big or go home approach. Shou sugi ban, blue stained epoxy covered shelf.

Depending on thickness you'd just have to make sure it has enough support across the span.
It's 3/4". I used the same to make a standing platform for my kayak. But the width here would be a little greater.

how are you mounting yours?

I used some neoprene strips along the bottom where it will come in contact with the hard plastic of the cargo area to keep from a) scratching b) rattling. It should sit right on top of the wheel well bump outs. I will likely just lay it in there ...maybe throw some Velcro strips to keep it somewhat secured. I may look into a way of mounting it with custom brackets from the hardtop bolts but won't be able to play with that until mine gets here in a couple weeks. On top of the laundry list of other items I need to do once it does finally arrive.

Don't have the patience to read through 6 pages of posts so I am going to throw out my must-haves. Other than paying for the Bronco I tend to spend my money carefully :D so all of these are super cheap. I have purchased all of these with my own money, installed them and like them

  1. QUick-disconnect mud flaps: if you think that Ford has tested the Bronco on loose gravel roads you would be wrong, because the damn truck picks up pebbles and throws them right at your side panels any time you are above 15 mph. Some seem willing to pay $300+ for removable mud flaps. I am not one of them
  2. Molle panels: bottom and top, protects the easily scratched sides and is essential forkeeping things from sloshing around
  3. Rear tailgate table: this one is without a molle panel, I am not going to hang anything on the rear gate and have a full set of other molle panels already
  4. Floor mats: use some of them points and 20% off coupon (as of this writing SPRING20)
  5. Crash bar plugs: if anyone has a clue why Ford thinks it is a good idea to ship with these open please let me know. They put plugs on the rock rails, why not on the crash bar?
  6. 32" light bar: why spend 5x that when this one works just fine
  7. License plate relocation bracket: essential if you are going to mount a light bar on the bumper. Over-engineered, needlessly heavy duty, and overpriced. I talked myself into buying it over the $25 Chinese ones from Amazon. Once the plate is on you will not be able to tell the difference.
  8. Ceiling light replacement: Mabett or other, they all are the same
  9. Interior lights: not received them yet but look much, much better design than the alternative
  10. LED strip for rear trunk: costs very little, outputs lots of light. Buy a 12V USBC PD trigger cable and power them from a multi-outlet cigarette adapter in the back
  11. Screen protector: the screen is pretty low DPI count and looks pretty soft
  12. "Heritage" sill guards: look beautiful and match the carbonized gray body color perfectly
  13. Left side phone mount: I find phones on center console incredibly distracting and you have to look away from the road even to look at a map
  14. Rear seat protectors with Molle panel: does not look as good as the ones without the panel but the extra attachment points are very useful
  15. Sun shade: this one is cheap, fits well, and collapses to nothing
  16. Spare filler tube: why Ford thought that a capless tank is a good idea is beyond me
  17. Matte black grill letter covers: the white ones on my BD are fugly and look cheap
  18. Door handle bins: seems that every carmaker these days is intent on wasting perfectly good storage space
  19. Rear windshield heating line covers: the connections look awfully exposed, this provides minimal protection and looks good
  20. Wheel locks: will not deter the professional thief but may stop drunk kids out to have some fun
  21. Deepsleep leveling mat, cheap gap filler and a closed cell foam pad: good sleep in the back for under $100. The full DeepSleep mats look like they are amazingly comfortable but are too bulky, take up precious vertical space for those of us 6ft or over and are a pain in the ass to inflate and deflate every day. The closed cell foam pad tucks away in 10 seconds, buy 2 if you need more cushioning and/or fold the pad in half (you don't need it over the deepsleep mat)
  22. High power LED backup lights (if you don't have signature LEDs): because the stock backup lights suck
Still looking for
  • Cheap awning. Looking to put one together with a Harbor Freight silver tarp ($10), marine suction cups ($17) and steel tarp poles ($16)
  • Relief for swamp ass - those damn MGV seats are just ridiculous. Why does Ford think that anyone buying a BD wants to hose it down? I have no intention of ever opening my hard top panels and would have loved more breathable seats that do not get uncomfortably hot any time the temperature gets past 75F
  • Thermal insulation solution for the hard top panels: the damn things radiate heat into the vehicle at even moderate temperatures (high 70s).

My list is growing and might not apply directly as you have a braptor.

Full cargo area liner (these actually surprised me how well they fit)

Wonder if something like dynamat would be enough but I really don't want to rip off my headlinwr/sound dampening and have to replace it
