Is it worth adding any stuff like this to a new vehicle to help protect it?

I wouldn’t recommend it. The transmission uses a ULV fluid which stands for ultra low viscosity. I don’t know of any aftermarket additives that meet the same fluid properties. And even if there was one, most additives are snake oil at best anyway.

It doesn’t need an additive IMO, but no one ever seems to be interested in changing their trans fluid until they get a lot of miles on their vehicle and start to have shift issues, and by then it’s usually too late.

Follow the severe duty schedule in your owners manual. I highly recommend only using the correct OE Motorcraft fluid since all late-model transmissions are calibrated to its viscosity. Using something else may cause shift quality issues (I speak from experience). Stay away from the quicky lube places, they will put anything in there.
