Took my doors off for the first time this weekend......then yesterday put the passenger side door back on (for the GF) left the driver door off.....took a drive up to dinner, came back home.... closer to home, when off the highway, I started getting a repetitive "Transmission Not in Park" alert....id' hit "ok" and hit would come right back up.

Did some googling, apparently this alert does come on if you are in drive and the door is open.....a couple years ago Ford had to recall some expeditions because it kept giving this alert.

Anyone else experience this? Have to imagine it had to do with my door being off, but doesn't' seem like it should give that alert with the door off.

Where was the driverā€™s door? Perhaps you left it open?
Next time make sure to close it before you leave the house.

Next time donā€™t plug in the passenger door. It would be my guess that since it seen the one door it was looking for a signal from the drivers door too.

Yea, that's a good thought. Good call.

I removed my doors yesterday for the first time as well. I got the notification randomly at times and it would just go away after ok. I had read that the safety system acts a bit funny when the doors are off so I had no worries. Nothing since I put the doors back on yet

Gotcha, just thinking though that's gonna be really annoying if it is always going to be doing that when any of the doors are off.

Itā€™s going to be very annoying, seems for a vehicle that promotes being able to take the doors off this should not be an issue. Maybe we can forscan out the audible warning at least.

I have gotten that alert, but it was because I actually hadn't put the transmission in park. I think it might sound similar to leaving the lights on too.

When I get an audible alert my first thought is "what are you complaining about now?"

This is one of the reasons that I dislike the keyless ignition. On my other automatic car I can't get the key out without putting it in park, so I never make that mistake. Of course, on my other other car there is no park and I always park it in gear.

@Tarheel_Wes Wes, that thing is junk. You know I'm close by, so if you want I'll stop by and take that piece of crap home with me. That way you won't have to worry about things like this. Yeah, I know, anything to help out a Tar Heel brother. That's just the way I am.........šŸ˜‡

I did driver only door off with no issues late last fall. Maybe updated software might change that though.

I guess I forgot to utilize the sarcasm font. I was joking about making sure the door was closed while off the vehicle.

I got the same alert today. Doors off, and the alert popped up. I wasnā€™t able to reverse the car without releasing the parking brake.

I never engage the parking brake when Iā€™m parked at home, so it was odd
