My 2.7l black diamond on 32’s crosses 24” like it’s nothing. It has also been through about 30” of flowing water after a night of rain in the Ozark NF. I had to turn around at a mudhole about 100 yards later

Since the alternator sits lower (and the turbos are kinda low too), I’m not sure a snorkel gives much benefit in water fording abilities, but I’m far from an expert 🙂
i do mud often but stay away from most water holes
deepest iv been is over tires and slow
just doesnt seem worth the "maybe"
yeah no snorkel
thanks

I had alternator issues after my Bronco sank to the top of the tires on the left side and earned the name Lusitania, but a good engine bay detail and she ran fine immediately afterwards.

Word of caution: the water WILL ruin your bearings. Replacing my idler bearings soon, because I finally isolated the funny noise that appeared shortly after the alternator TSB. She was stuck in the water for a minute before being pulled out.

The contrary perspective is that Ford, Jeep and other have official specifications for water fording depth.

I like living in the desert where creeks are rare and the one river is big enough and deep enough, nobody is driving across it in anything besides a boat. Even mud makes me sweat a little during the rare times we have water fall from the sky.

When I was 17 the town park flooded due to the Tippecanoe river going over it's banks.
The park has a horse shoe paved roadway about a mile long.
The water was 3'-4' deep.
I had a 1968 F100 with a 390 and exhaust stacks but no intake mods.
Keep a slow steady speed, no stopping and I made it a number of times.
I had to make a trip home to get the diesel tractor to tow my buddies out. lol
But we were 17, stupid and drinking. What's these guys excuse?
