I don't typically but you certainly can without issue.

How many of you use 4A when it is raining? Should it not be used while driving in the rain? Thoughts?
Use it all the time if you wish. That's what it's for. Ford says so, their engineers say so, their user guide says so.

What are your concerns?

Using 4A whenever is fine.

Also the goat modes change how it works. In sport, the front barely activates, usually only when you're stomping it & turns off in turns. In snow/ice, the front will stay on longer & through turns.

As for rain, 4A won't make your breaking any better. The real trick for driving in the rain is giving proper space.

4A, 4H, etc.

Every winter I see people stuck in the ditch in the snow. They overdrove their abilities and the abilities of their vehicles and tires. They thought "AWD/4WD, I can do anything!" They forgot about stopping--and turning, which is a subset of stopping.

Getting going is great, until you have to unwind that. Yes, unless you leave proper space, you'd better at least have proper tires--but even that won't save you.

Of course, use it in the rain. All it takes is for you to need to gas it a bit going uphill....and lose traction. Then you'll know.

I only use it when ice is a possibility, so only if the rain is freezing. I prefer to stay in 2WD in regular rain.

If the rain is heavy, I do shift to 4A especially when at higher speeds. The extra stability of the front tires pulling is an extra safety measure when all the idiots are out in the rain.

Around town I don't typically use 4A in the rain but yes on the highway. Just did a 400 mile trip in the pouring rain and 30 mile an hour winds. The Bronco definitely feels more stable in 4A.

I'm constantly turning 4A on or off in varying conditions so I know what it does when I might need it. Sport mode, normal mode, etc... I haven't found any faults with it on or off. That's the beauty of the "A" Rain, snow, sand, mud, it just goes!

This is a misunderstanding in general about 4w drive rigs whether al wheel drive or 4w drive. Be it a crossover with full time al wheel, selectable al or 4w, it's the driver who controls the vehicle and how he controls it be it rain snow or ice. I don't care what drive system you have, going too fast for road conditions and you are asking for trouble.

Here in Nth. Idaho the fun and good business for the tow company's starts with the first snow. Get a couplable in's. of snow and it never fails, the very first vehicles to hit the ditch are all of the above. It takes about 3 days for people get it and start slowing down. My way of driving, rain snow or ice is to drive like I have 2 wheel drive. this method has never failed me yet. LOL.

Growing up in a time when everything was rear wheel drive, I get a chuckle every time a 25-40 year old, makes these comments in relation to 2wd and 4wd performing vertically no different on snow and ice.

You can use it anytime. I will enable it during torrential downpours, snow etc. Light rain I don’t bother. When I had my F150 Raptor with KO2s, I used it all the time when the roads were wet - tail happy vehicle with KO2s.
