Who's Got The Best Way To Open Tailgate From Inside?

So who here has figured out the best way to open the tailgate from inside the truck? Say when sleeping or camping in it. Isn't there an emergency release inside the plastic cover? Has anyone modded one with a handle? What is everyone doing for this? Thanks in advance.

Is there a way you could attach a paracord handle to the emergency release handle? Haven't really considered this yet and now I feel the need to go into the garage and investigate!

looking at service manuals no interior handle or release,would have to take the plastic planel off to access the latch assembly

If you are sleeping in the back of a 4 door, then just open the rear door. If you are sleeping in the back of a 2 door, you have the dexterity to crawl out the window.

I know that about page 89 and access to lever behind panel. I vaguely mentioned that in my post. What I'm asking is if anyone has a mod, or a good permanent solution for an interior latch or opening device. Like an actual handel that can be used from inside while sleeping in it, which I'd guess a lot of us woud?

I just realized the obvious… depending if you have a soft top or a hard top… I have a soft top.

You can just press the two levers that open up the soft top rear, use the small prop, and then reach your hand out and open the tailgate from the outside.

I have the IAG Ez Soft Top strut on order which will make this even easier.

Now the hard top… I got no clue!!!

Ahh I didn’t think there was enough room to sleep in a 2 door. I’d barely fit in a 4 door.

Good question... There should be at least for emergencies! MIC top, 2dr, young couple or car crash, doors pinned between two trees, debris on roof..... Emergency exit pull cable needed.

keep a glass punch in the truck, make any window your exit. (or do the back and reach out for the handle)
