Why no White Top MIC?

Just curious…. Why wouldn’t they make the white top MIC?

I just don’t like the idea of a painted top, especially if it’s going to be handled often (off/on).

Don't know why, MIC is molded in color so I'm taking that as the color plastic would have to be white so maybe there was issue with yellowing over time. No one's had a gray MIC long enough to verify how they truly fade over time but they seem to scratch up pretty easy.

And it’s much cheaper to just paint them. The robotic spray heads used at the OEM only take about 50 seconds to lay down a coat of paint on an entire vehicle so a lot less than that for a Bronco MIC top.

I don't think there's any paint on the MIC tops, MIC is Molded in Color with that color being gray. If they would have painted them I'd be in a Bronco now vice waiting all this time on a white mod top.

My guess would be that it's to difficult to make MIC white. I mean look at some of the people that have different shades of grey MIC tops.

Not the current MIC top, the white one that is coming on the Heritage Editions will be painted, as far as I know.

My 80's bronco and my 67 IH Scout both had a white tops. Never any issues with fading or anything on either so in 40-60 years you would think they could still make the top in white with no issues.

As someone who originally wanted a white top on whatever color Bronco I was getting (Area 51), would love to just one day get a white top, but alas, they’re only for the Heritage edition (Herratic if a 4 door!). Yep, I said it.

Not sure a white top would have worked in MIC form, so as other said, paint was the cheapest way forward; it is a Ford not a Land Rover.

@Lowcountry Bronco You signed up for one of them there Heritage or the Limited Edition? If that LE seat were vinyl, lord knows I’d find a way to get it. I just love plad seats; so 1970s.

I ordered an Oxford White Bronco...I live in The Sun Belt!!!
(I got an "A" in Thermodynamics, but it was a long time ago!!)
White vee-hick-els stay COOLER in the sun!!
But how dumb am I?!?
The MIC is black/dark gray!!!
Why not a WHITE molded-in-color?!?!?!?!?!
Too much money for pigment?!?!?

A standard Heritage for me, order already placed and now back to waiting.

I will say the white painted MICs that are out there look great but still an unknown to invest a couple a grand in only to have it peel away in a couple of years or not. This was my reason for holding off as long as I did waiting on the good Ford to provide.
