There are 1,000,000+ 2.3L and 2.7L engines out there. Yes, there are lots of failures because just 1% of 1,000,000 would still be 10,000+ engines that grenade.

Lots of Ford haters early on hated the 2.3L Bronco because of all the Mustang/Focus issues. Now, the internet says the 2.7L is terrible.

The 2.7 is a wonderful design and most people have great successs with them.

After seeing so many reports of bad 2.3 and the v6 engines on til too and other forums, I am truly beginning to worry. I have a 2.3 BigBend that I love which I have had for 17 months now and only 6500 miles. No issues thus far but everyone is saying 12 to 15k and these engines are knocking, locking up. Just worried after pay over 50k + crazy financing.
I have heard of no bad 2.3's and it was a small run of 2.7's, "so many"...where? The 2.7 has been in F150's for a long time. Keep in mind that the internet and those dumb YouTube reviewers artificially amplify the negatives. There are far more people that are very happy with their BRONCOS and few with problems.
Drive it and enjoy it....you have a 5 year warranty on the engine and drive train.

To the OP. 29,000+ on my 2.7. Trouble free so far. The 2.3 that I had in a Ranger did have a strong gas smell the first time I changed the engine oil(direct AND port injection). With both of these engines, don't go by the 10,000 mile recommendation. Change the oil around 5,000 miles with a good synthetic, and you'll be fine.

The 2.7 has one major design flaw. No manual transmission.
Given the issues with the manual maybe that was a good idea.

The better exhaust note of the V6 would probably make the grinding noise more livable.

Over 125K on the 2.3 in my Mustang and still gets daily driven by the wife. That car has been run hard for most of those miles and no engine issues. Only 10K on the 2.7 in the bronco so far but I have the same heavy foot in it and no issues so far.

get out and drive that thing. no chance of it blowing up if you don't even drive it. I've got 27k on my 2022 Badlands Sasquatch with the 2.7, in the same time (17 months), no issues. I off-road it, I commute in it, I've taken it on road trips. It's why they come with a warranty.
