Why does the rear middle seat have that large bump out?

I have a 4 door Badlands and the rear center seat has a large bump out near the bottom that makes it very uncomfortable for a person to sit there.

What is the purpose of this bump out? There is a seat belt for the center so it's not to prevent people from sitting there. Never had it on any other vehicle.

I think I know exactly what you mean, wondered the same thing. Not even remotely sure why its there, I rarely have a 5th passenger so never bothered to investigate it but I am curious.

lol, same. It's not only that odd cushion, but the width is not quite as nice as the two VIP seats on either side.

Don’t sell yourself short in life. My wife and I joke around about a conversation we had before we decide to have children. The conversation went something like: do you want to be rich and not have any concerns, or do you want children. We went for the children, and it’s the best thing I have ever done!

It's probably to help the center armrest (for ones that have it) not sag too much or get pushed down too far with weight put on it.
