Thanks. Thanks.

Looks like my hotel bill won't be quite as high as it was looking like now.
It still could be, since there's a ton of other stuff you can do in Moab while you're there. My son and I stayed three nights and did a whole "canyoneering" trek...

I'm still considering if I want more nights than the two that I need for the Off-Roadeo. If I do more, I'll stay somewhere cheaper than the Red Cliffs Lodge. And anything extra would be done before rather than after, because Saturday nights are the most expensive. I would like to do the White Rim Trail again, at least.

Oh yeah, Red Cliffs is pricey! We actually stayed at the Aarchway Inn the whole time, and it wasn't too bad for the price, and the morning drive to Off Roadeo was only 20-25 minutes. We stayed for the campfire after off roading, and it made for a pretty late night getting back to town, but the convo with the guides was worth the time...

I’m headed to Moab next month to attend. Was going to be in west CO anyway, might as well take an extra day and attend. Looking forward to it.

Moab Off-Roadeo report:

It was definitely worth attending to learn how to go up and down rocky sections and how to pick a good line. Moab is the only one of the four Off-Roadeos that is held on public land, so we met the occasional side-by-side or group of motorcycles.

Bring a hat, you spend a lot of time out of the Broncos analyzing how to get up and down things.

You are assigned which Bronco you'll be driving and assigned which position in the group as part of that.

This was the first obstacle and we tried two different lines through. The middle line is the one where you scrape up things, so nobody tried that. As the first one through, I "tested" the rock slider on the line on the right side by dropping off the ledge a little too quickly. That showed everybody else what NOT to do. ;)

This was the lunch stop and all eight Broncos in our group. Those of us without a passenger had a guide along with us. I was in that group in the Red Bronco, so I lead the group for most of it and got to try things first. And make the first mistakes.

The guides claim they didn't get this one stuck on purpose, but I'm not sure that I believe them. It gave them the opportunity to show how to hook up a tow strap. Just a slight nudge was all the blue one needed to get up that, after sitting at 28 degrees for about five minutes. It was the only 2-door in the group.

Before I start a new thread I thought I would ask here. Looking to do Moab end of Oct or early Nov. My question is I am bringing my dog on the trip, I know they are not allowed in the Offroadeo so looking into daycare in Moab. However since I have not booked the OR yet I am not sure what time we need to be at the event to start....the daycare I am looking at does not open till 8am and closes at 5pm....so need to know if I need to ask them if they make any special accomadations.

Pretty sure they dont open early enough, but hoping they accomadate. Do you get back from the event in time to pick up a pooch in downtown Moab by 5?

The Off-Roadeo starts at 8:00 am and it's about 16 miles from downtown Moab. I think we got back to the starting point pretty close to 5:00 pm. Are you sure you can't find a dog sitter in Las Vegas?

If it's a small dog, I could possibly talk my daughter into helping out.

Anyway daughter was going to co - ride with me and wife dog sit. Daughter had some bad luck with her pet and isn’t able to go now. Wife, I and myBrittany. Would like to take wife in daughters spot as it’s already paid for but no idea on what to do with dog. Never boarded her and I m real protective of my animals … anyone with ideas please do weigh in. We go Friday, Sept 29; in Spanish Springs UT as I type …..

I went to Moab for the first time for Off-Roadeo. It was the most stunning landscape you could ask for. As a visitor I treaded lightly. As a beginner, I learned a lot. Went back to do trails twice on my own. I appreciated Ford’s instruction and their guidance on how not to destroy landscape. I learned more about off roading there than I did subsequently at Raptor Off Roadeo.
