The modular steel front is optional on all trims except BD, BL, and FE where it is standard. They also get a rear steel. The rear steel isn't an option on any of the other trims.
The Ford site makes it seem like you can get both on any trim. It shows the front heavy duty bumper as an option and then when you click on that option it talks about the rear bumper, but you are probably right.

Yeah if the modular option gets your steel front AND back I may do it even If i go aftermarket later. But if its plastic I may just wait for a matched set aftermarket that accommodates a winch.

The way they word it almost makes me think it's both. They don't separate the two options. Guess we will find out soon w/ b&p

Jeep JL steel aftermarket rear bumper with sensor locations.
I’m sure a steel Bronco bumper will be available soon after production starts.

I imagine that the plastic bumpers are going to be pretty hardy. I had an 07 Jeep Liberty with plastic bumpers and they were pretty stout. I got backed into by a 53’ tractor trailer at a stop light (I know) and it dented my hood up but barely scratched my bumper. I am imagining something like that on the Bronco.

Gordo, interesting to read as it sounds like the rear steel is included when optioning for the front modular steel bumper. In the trim breakdown charts, (on the respective trims that have plastic) there is only mention of the front being an optional steel.

B/P should answer more of these questions. If I stay at the Big Bend, even though I want the steel bumper, I might stay with the plastic as it includes the fog lights (integrated wiring on the console). When the plastic invariably needs to be replaced, I could then get the steel and retrofit new fog lamps to use the wiring harness. My OCD is triggered to see an empty dummy switch where the fog lights would be if I opted for the steel from the factory.

What I'm trying to avoid is having old spare parts to deal with. I'm being realistic with my use. I don't need the best aftermarket bumpers, the factory steel would be fine for me. I have been there and done that with Harley, Dirt Bikes, Quads and Mustangs. Old take off parts that just tend to sit around. I should be more open to selling these take offs. I don't like dealing with people though to sell them...lol
