Applied some “Cat’s Tongue” rubber to protect the battery hold down from accidental contact.

Final install. I have it hooked to Aux 4. That switch works better now that I remembered I blew the fuse last year…

I just slapped some Gorilla Tape over the terminals for now. Maybe Santa will bring me a 3D printer and I’ll design a snap on cover.

With the switch on I’ve got 12v at the plug. I will test the compressor before I head out to the wilderness tomorrow.

So an update. Last week I was out and had aired down the 35s to about 20psi. Previously I had only gone down to about 25psi.

This time when airing up I blew a fuse before it was done. Luckily I use the same size (honkin’ big) fuse for the roof bar lights and finished pumping up to about 35psi.

So I need to evaluate just where I am with amperage. But now I have some testing parameters.

I believe I’m on the edge of the fuse’s capacity and not the wiring. But the good news is that the fuse did what it’s supposed to do and blow before the wire melted.

Good data to have! What was your fuse rating? And manufacturer?

Time for a temperature device to “see” what’s happening. Thing has been awesome

I believe it was 60A and just whatever cheap Amazon fuse that came with the holder.

I say believe because it was dark and I dropped the fuse into the engine bay. And since the area is crawling with Sasquatches I didn't want to be outside the vehicle any longer than I had to. Did I mention it was also dark?:D:p

Looks a lot better than my nylon cap nut and a piece of closed cell foam I threw on top of it!

How do you have your cables coming out of yours?
Mine is a 500A for my winch, so it’s a bit bigger. But same concept

I need to get rubber boots or something and clean it up - just hasn’t been high on my list yet

If you can get a photo straight down and some measurements I'd like to take a swing at modeling it out.

Oh that would be cool. My son has a 3D printer, but I haven't fooled with it at all and he doesn't know how to create CAD drawings, just print stuff he finds online.

Entire case is a square, 2 5/8" across each way at the widest lip

Bigger terminals are 5/16" - spaced 1 3/16" CL
Smaller terminals are 3/16" - spaced 1 5/16 CL

I didn't get a side profile, the larger terminals are higher than everything else, but I don't have a measurement on that -- can probably get it if you needed it. I have roughly 1/4" - 3/8" clearance from the top of the nut/cable to the end of the stud right now on those terminals.
