This needs a poll!

I am a 5-6 (mostly 5) guy.

It's 4s and 5s for me. 6s once I'm learn-ed. And some 7s once I scratch her up and decide to throw down some upgrades. 😂 Where's the picture for going fast? We don't have solid axles so we get to do more zoomies.😬

I'll probably stick to Level 6...maybe an occassional Level 7...anyone think the Trail Turn Assist feature will allow this switchback at Black Bear Pass to be made without going into reverse and having to make the typical 3 to 4 point turn?

Let's get some reference points on this scale. Where would the Rubicon Trail fall (my thought is 7-8)? What about Hell's Revenge, Fordyce Creek, Black Bear Pass, Lake Como Trail, Bangs Canyon, Pinyon Mountain Road? My guess is that most of these fall on the upper end of the spectrum, so my desire is to wheel my Bronco up to a level 8 or 9.

It *might* help, but you'd better be damn familiar with it and practice a lot. There is no room for error on BBP, and TTA seems to me like largely an uncontrolled manuever.

Think I’ll wait and see at which level someone screws theirs up... I’ll stop one rung up the ladder before that... 🙂
That is a good plan! 😁

I have used differential brakes on tractors to aid turning for years.

Sometimes the tires bite and sometimes they drag. Especially on loose gravel and snow/ice.

Methinks Black Bear Pass might not be a good place to drag tires trying to turn.

I thought about a poll, but that seems to ruffle some people’s feathers. 😁

I did this road (level 7?) in my Nissan Pathfinder 20 years ago, where I got hung up and had to use the hi lift to get going again. But generally I was Level 5... if I could find it. Level 6 doesn’t exist here.

(Not my photo)

I’ve spent the last 20 years driving German sports cars so it will be interesting to see... I imagine breaking myself back into off-roading gradually.

One of the problems here in the NW is that un maintained roads get overgrown with alder very quickly making them a scratch hazard more than an off road challenge. :(

I didnt go down there. I would call that level 1000!

I would say in that for the first few years I will stay between 3 and 6 after that and some mods I will go places a lil harder but probably alot different than some of that rockier stuff.

Work gets me to a level four on workdays a month or two a year, the WRX will do it with me picking the easy line (admittedly the baby skid plate has a gouge or two and I would have decent pucker factor at a full four). I will probably not be so worried about the easy line in the Bronco. I might try a level six in the first year, maybe... Pictures always look less intimidating then reality. Seven would be the limit and not for three years or more of depreciation and practice at a minimum, even so, more likely not. So 4.25 to six-ish would be my regular to expanded comfort zone.

Now I will go back and read the other replies, didn't want them to influence my answer.

I gotta stick to 5 and under with my lack of experience. The pinstriping is what would bug me the most.
